Gate-driver ICs now available with AEC-Q100 certification
In Nuremburg, Germany at this year's PCIM show, Power Integrations announced that two of its SCALE-iDriver gate-driver IC family are now certified to AEC-Q100 Grade Level 1 for automotive use. The SID1132KQ and SID1182KQ are suitable for driving 650, 750 and 1,200V automotive IGBT and SiC-MOSFET modules, and are rated for peak currents of +/-2.5A and +/-8A.
SiC diodes for automotive applications reduce system costs
At this year's PCIM in Nuremburg, Germany, ON Semiconductor has announced an expansion of its Silicon Carbide (SiC) Schottky diode portfolio to include devices intended for demanding automotive applications.
Energy-saving battery storage system inaugurated in Plymouth
Plessey has announced the opening of a new 2MW behind the meter (BTM) battery storage solution installed at its flagship manufacturing and R&D site in Plymouth, Devon. The project was completed by KiWi Power. This project follows KiWi Power’s success in building two other BTM battery storage systems in the UK. The company is targeting an extensive roll-out of similar BTM projects for high energy users particularly in the commercial...
Drive series now offered with power ratings up to 450kW
Parker Hannifin has extended its AC30 series of variable speed AC drives up to 450kW output rating to cater for high power applications. The announcement follows a recent update to introduce a resolver feedback option, bringing further closed-loop capabilities to the portfolio and underlining Parker’s commitment to offering its customers even more functionality across the AC30 series.
CoolGaN is set to revolutionise power management
The key benefits of gallium nitride (GaN) are, amongst others, high power density, efficiency and decreased system costs. Infineon Technologies have started volume production for CoolGaN products by the end of 2018, the company announced during PCIM Europe. Engineering samples of the high reliable GaN solution in the market are available now. At PCIM 2018 Infineon showcases (Hall 9, booth 412) CoolGaN products in telecom, adapter, wireless c...
Linear regulators designed for up to 40V Vin operations
The TPS7A66-Q1 and TPS7A69-Q1 are low-dropout linear regulators designed for up to 40V Vin operations. With only 12µA quiescent current at no load, they are quite suitable for standby microprocessor control-unit systems, especially in automotive applications. The devices feature integrated short-circuit and overcurrent protection. The devices implement reset delay on power up to indicate the output voltage is stable and in regulation.
1.6A dual brushed DC motor driver with inrush protection
TI's DRV8802-Q1 device provides an integrated motor driver solution for automotive applications. The device has two H-bridge drivers, and is intended to drive DC motors. The output driver block for each consists of N-channel power MOSFET’s configured as H-bridges to drive the motor windings. The DRV8802-Q1 device can supply up to 1.6A peak or 1.1A RMS output current (with proper heatsinking at 24V and 25°C) per H-bridge.
Semikron highlights EV technology at PCIM 2018
At this year's PCIM in Nuremberg, Germany, Semikron are showcasing a range of power products for Electric Vehicles (EVs) which can be found in passenger cars, utility vehicles, trucks, buses and industrial and material handling vehicles.
Power modules combine packaging and chip technology to reduce losses
PCIM 2018: Fuji Electric highlights its PrimePACK power modules, for use in solar and wind applications. They have been enhanced with seventh generation X-Series chip technology for higher power density and reliability.
Fluxgate-based current sensors for high accuracy measurement
LEM has expanded its range of high accuracy transducers with the new IN 1000-S for non-intrusive and isolated measurement of DC, AC and pulsed nominal current of 1000 A. LEM already launched a 2000 A model last year as first model of this range reinventing the fluxgate technology.
