Passive matrix OLED display driver targets wearables market
A Passive Matrix OLED (PMOLED) display driver which targets the rapidly growing wearables market has been released by Solomon Systech. The SSD1317 is claimed to be the world’s smallest SEG-COM-SEG orientation PMOLED display driver IC to support high brightness PMOLED mono colour display with resolution up to 128x96, meeting the form factor constraints of the wearables market.
Touch controller supports 3D air gestures 20cm away
Expanding its Human Interface Solutions portfolio, Microchip Technology's MTCH6303 supports touch sensors with up to 1,000 nodes and diagonals of up to 10”. The projected-capacitive touch controller provides multi-touch coordinates as well as a ready-made multi-finger surface gesture suite that brings modern UI elements, such as pinch and zoom, multi-finger scrolling and swipes, to any embedded design, with minimal host requirements.
Rugged LED indicators handle tough environments
A range of panel-mount LED indicators qualified against DESC controlled drawings 85122 and 87019 developed by Oxley are now available at distributor Aerco. These high specification lamps are protected to IP68 and 100% screened against Table I and II of DESC drawings including: burn-in, seal, temperature cycling and luminous intensity testing.
TFT displays suit outdoor environments
Three TFT displays designed for use in outdoor environments have been released by KOE. The 7.0” TX18D203VM2BAA, the 8.0” TX20D200VM2BAB and the 10.4” TX26D200VM2BAB all feature high brightness, white LED backlights. All three displays have a brightness rating of 1500cd/m² which allows them to be used in environments with high levels of ambient light.
PID panels offered in portrait or landscape mode
A range of high bright Public Information Displays (PID) for outdoor digital signage applications come in sizes of 46in, 55in and 75in and feature a brightness of 2500 cd/m².The Samsung PID panels, which are on sale at Avnet Embedded, meet applications for Video wall, Digital Signage and Information displays for POS and POI.
Touchfoil suits displays as small as 15"
Visualplanet has responded to demand for smaller touchfoil sizes, providing design flexibility for self-service touch kiosk and vending machine manufacturers and integrators. Now available in sizes as small as 15" (diagonal, corner-to-corner), the touchfoil is used to create a touchscreen when applied to glass and combined with a display and computer.
Holographic platform turns content into 3D holograms
Holus is a tabletop holographic platform that converts any digital content from a computer, tablet or smartphone into a 3D hologram. Users can view content from four different angles and interact with it in ways not previously possible. The device opens up opportunities for developers to create their own holographic experience.
6H graphic display is scratch resistant
A graphic display, the eDIPTFT70-ATC from Electronic Assembly, has been released. The TFT touch panel display features an extensive set of intelligent display functions, making it suitable for MCU system architectures. Other features include a bright, high-contrast screen and an attactive appearance.
Alphanumeric display operates from -40 to +80°C
An alphanumeric display with the advantage of high contrast for good visibility combined with low energy consumption has been released by Electronic Assembly. The EA W202 XDLG also features an onboard controller which supports user-friendly connectivity options, and operates over a wide temperature range, making it suitable for automotive applications.
Rapidly proof out new product concepts & build prototypes
andersDX has taken its embedded display platforms into the world of Intel with the launch of a updated version based on the Intel Celeron N2930 quadcore processor and running Windows Embedded 7. The company offers developers a plug-and-play evaluation kit to rapidly proof out new product concepts and build prototypes. The same hardware can be customised to form the basis of the production system.
