Touchscreen controller enables smartphone easy-wake gesture
ZTE has selected a TrueTouch capacitive touchscreen controller from Cypress Semiconductor for its nubia Z7 Max smartphone. The phone uses the TrueTouch TMA568 controller to implement an easy-wake gesture feature that enables the user to wake the phone’s screen from sleep-mode by simply double tapping on the screen with a finger.
'Worlds first' quantum dot desktop monitor
A quantum dot desktop monitor was launched in China thanks to a partnership between MMD (Philips Monitors) and QD Vision. The Philips 27” Full HD monitor, 276E6ADS (E6), achieves 99% Adobe RGB colour, making it suitable for entertainment, gaming professional photography and design. QD Vision is demonstrating the quantum dot monitor at booth 1025 at SID Display Week.

High-contrast mono LCDs available with colour filters
A range of high-contrast mono LCDs, which are optionally available with colour filters, has been released by Varitronix. The displays use Improved Black Nematic (IBN) technology to provide a high contrast ratio of around 1000:1 with low bleed-through of light around the edges of the ON segment characters and graphics.
Controllers enable touchscreens for wearable market

LCD TVs achieve 110% of full-gamut NTSC colour performance
TCL has expanded its Color IQ-based product family with the introduction of its Q65H9700 65’’, 4K, UHD Quantum Dot TV. This is the second Color IQ-based TV launched by TCL, following the successful launch of its 55” H9700 model last December. Both products feature colour performance enabled by QD Vision’s Color IQ optics.

TFT LCDs display clear colours in bright weather
Kyocera has introduced two next-gen TFT LCDs which display bright colours clearly, even in intense sunlight. Suitable for industrial applications including medical, aerospace, aquatics, T&M and Industry 4.0 equipment, the 10.4" XGA (TCG104XGLP) and 12.1" XGA (TCG121XGLP) TFT LCD modules feature 1024x768px resolution and high-efficiency, long-life LED backlights offering 1300 and 1200 cd/m², respectively.

The Ampire standard range of displays with Cover Lens and Projected Capacitive Touchscreen are available from Avnet Embedded. Sizes consist of 4.3in, 5in, 7in and 10.1in. Cover lens thickness reaches up to 4mm with blacks. Screen printing of customer’s logos is also possible.
