Mek Europe BV and its distributor, Eltraco, have recently announced the installation of yet another Mek AOI system within Innokas Medical Oy. Innokas Medical recently commissioned an iSpector HDA 650 in its Kempele HQ site and an iSpector HDL 650 in its Estonia site, complementing systems in operation at other locations throughout Northern Europe.

Innokas Medical is a Finnish company that specialises in contract design and manufacturing of Medical Devices. Innokas Medical’s long-term experience in designing and manufacturing medical devices and its all-inclusive, certified quality system allow Innokas to manage the whole life cycle of medical products. Innokas Medical's mission is to produce hi-tech healthcare technology behind globally remarkable brands.

Innokas Medical’s design process includes expertise in embedded SW, electronics, HW and PCB design, mechanical design and 3D modelling, product implementation as well as verification design. The high-end manufacturing process includes production transfers, purchasing, PCB manufacturing, module and device assemblies, and final testing of products. Fundamental to their latest selection of AOI equipment was the “world class quality local support and excellent performance of their existing MEK AOI systems.”

Mek’s iSpector series includes the world’s first desktop AOI system to offer one top camera and eight side cameras in 45/45 degree configuration. Solder joints of increasingly popular 45 degree space-saving circuitry designs can now be inspected with 10µm resolution side cameras. Combining simultaneous 9 camera inspection, true 24-bit colour imaging technology and 3D Solder Meniscus profiling, these systems deliver advanced AOI performance with either manual or fully automated PCB handling.

Commenting upon the purchase, Marko Kellolampi (Production Manager) at Innokas Medical explained, “We have a great deal of AOI experience and know what’s critical to our operations. In addition to the superior setup, the iSpector defect error ratio is consistently impressive and the seamlessly centralised control across our multiple systems is another significant benefit.”
