Software designed instruments cover swathe of applications
NI has unleashed a new wave of software designed instrumentation encompassing new instrument types and automated test applications, further freeing, says the company, engineers and organisations from the costs and limitations of vendor-defined instruments. These latest software-designed instruments address automated test and research applications across wireless and mobile devices, semiconductor, automotive and aerospace/defence industries.
Programmable DC power supplies measure standby current levels
The Series 2280S Precision Measurement, Low Noise, Programmable DC Power Supplies from Kethley Instruments are also sensitive measurement instruments with the speed and dynamic range for measuring standby current loads and load current pulses that battery-powered wireless, medical, and industrial devices produce.
Triaxial IEPE accelerometer undergoes redesign
A revised version of the AT/10 miniature triaxial IEPE accelerometer has been launched by DJB Instruments UK. Using the industry standard ¼-28 UNF single 4-pin connector the AT/10 has been through a redesign to enable it to be produced to the full high temperature specification of 185°C.
LabVIEW 2014 speeds data acquisition, analysis
The month of August always sees National Instruments usher in the latest version of its LabView systems design software. LabVIEW 2014 standardises the way users interact with hardware through reuse of the same code and engineering processes across systems, which scales applications for the future. This saves time and money as technology advances, requirements evolve and time-to-market pressure increases.
Digital radio test set upgraded for Motorola radios
Aeroflex has added additional test and alignment capabilities for Motorola APX Series Radios on its 3920B Digital Radio Test Set. The new test capabilities focus on Phase II Transmit and Receive tests. The Aeroflex Automated Test and Alignment procedure provides fully automated test and alignment of Motorola APX radios without the need for user interaction.
DOCSIS 3.1 program gets new adherent
CableLabs is to join Averna’s DOCSIS 3.1 Protocol Analyser Early Adopter Program to add its voice and experience to the development and review process for Averna’s next-generation DOCSIS 3.1 Protocol Analyser. Averna’s DOCSIS Protocol Analyser is the industry standard for functional DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS network analysis, providing visibility into all layers of the network.
Software tool kit targets safety related systems
A Tool Qualification Support-Kit designed to help customers face the many challenges of software development for safety-related systems has been developed by Lauterbach for use with its TRACE32 code coverage analysis tools. The TRACE32 trace tools provide fast and efficient trouble shooting capabilities to detect complex errors that only occur under run-time conditions.
It's official: Agilent becomes Keysight Technologies
And now it is official. Keysight Technologies has begun operations today after it was announced that the electronic measurement business of Agilent Technologies has begun operating under the Keysight name. It will remain a wholly owned subsidiary of Agilent Technologies until early November when the separation is expected to be completed and Keysight begins trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol KEYS.
Test tool footprint is reduced by 60 per cent
The LDRA tool suite target implementation has been optimised to deliver the same comprehensive software test and verification capabilities with a 60 percent smaller on-target footprint. This reduced footprint minimises test so that time-critical dependencies can now be properly traced. Instrumentation overhead no longer interferes with the real-time execution on the target.
Software upgrade cuts 4K and UHDTV1 hardware costs
To eliminate the need for customers to purchase costly hardware replacements in order to shoot, prepare and deliver 4K/UHDTV1 programming Tektronix has developed software to enable its WFM8200 and WFM8300 waveform monitors and WVR8200 and WVR8300 rasterisers to be upgraded to support 4K and UHDTV1.
