Test & Measurement
Multiple vehicle noise tests get on track
Automotive manufacturers can now analyse noise from multiple vehicles on a single track using Brüel & Kjær’s PULSE Vehicle Pass-by Test System. Exterior noise measurements are essential for manufacturers to ensure their vehicles meet the industry standards that validate them for sale within markets such as the European Union.
Software accelerates multiphysics structure testing
Version 12 Analyst-MP 3D multiphysics finite element method (FEM) electromagnetic (EM) analysis software has been released by NI (formerly AWR). This new version delivers up to 10X improvement in speed from the previous version, making it even faster for analysing extremely complex high-frequency, multiphysics structures like the X- and L-band accelerators designed by Japan’s High Energy Accelerator Research Organisation (KEK).
Software upgrades enhance Boundary Scan tool suite
Version 8.2 of its ScanExpress Boundary-Scan Tool Suite has been released by Corelis. This new version adds powerful trace imaging using ODB++ netlist data to the ScanExpress Viewer circuit board diagnostic display system. Also included are test and programming support for e.MMC components, a memory model search interface, new CPU family support, plus numerous improvements spanning the complete suite of ScanExpress applications.
Wi-Fi Alliance partner named as test lab for Wi-Fi Aware
The Wi-Fi Alliance has launched the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Wi-Fi Aware certification program, offering an exciting new capability of Wi-Fi which enables power-efficient discovery of nearby devices, applications, and information before making a Wi-Fi connection. Wi-Fi Aware is designed to work well in crowded environments and indoors, and to minimise power consumption. The “neighbour awareness” technology behind Wi-Fi Aware operates continuou...
FTTH splicer eyes high-end applications
The fibre fusion splicer range from Fujikura Europe has been strengthened with the addition of the 22S - a new advanced FTTH splicer for single fibre claimed to be the world’s smallest and lightest active V-groove model. It enables Fujikura to deliver a complete offering of splicing options from the basic, with the 12S, to the very advanced, which is met by the flagship 70S, and everything in between.
ARM processor powers embedded data acquisition module
A real-time data acquisition module extends Data Translation’s recently launched generation of ARM-based embedded data acquisition solutions. The DT7816 is based on a Linux platform with Cortex-A8 processor and 2GB Flash memory. The module provides eight 16-bit analogue inputs supporting simultaneous data acquisition with a sampling rate of up to 400 kHz per channel.
MoI simplifies compliance testing and set up
A Method of Implementation (MOI) guide for PCIe 3.0 Transmiiter/Receiver (Tx/Rx) Impedance and Return Loss Tests (Hot TDR/RL) using the ENA Series network analyser’s enhanced time domain analysis option (E5071C-TDR) has been produced by Keysight Technologies. The guide details procedures for time and frequency domain measurements and is used with a test package, such as Keysight’s state file, to simplify compliance testing and setup.
Test platform integrated with static analysis tool
The VectorCAST test automation platform has been integrated with CodePeer 3.0 - AdaCore’s advanced static code analysis tool for Ada, including version 2012. Vector Software’s VectorCAST and CodePeer now provide Development and QA teams with the ability to focus test efforts in areas most susceptible to errors.
Battery life test solution set to meet UE acceptance
A battery life test solution that will meet UE acceptance is being developed by Keysight Technologies and W2BI, an Advantest Group company. The test solution was developed in accordance with a number of test cases as defined within CTIA Battery Life Test Plan rev 1.0 and TS.09-v7.6.
A gap in analytical tests for drugs based on glycoproteins
Agilent Technologies and the Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI), a research institute of Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), has announced that they will collaborate on new analytical approaches to analysing specific protein-linked sugar compounds.
