Test & Measurement
Hand-held spectrum analyser measures up to 40GHz
A hand-held spectrum analyser that is not much larger than a smartphone and yet is able to carry out measurements on microwave signals at frequencies as high as 40GHz is in stock at Link Microtek. Manufactured by SAF Tehnika, the versatile Spectrum Compact instrument is primarily aimed at field engineers dealing with commercial mobile-phone infrastructure, satellite communications links or military communications systems.
Semiconductor test probe for high end digital devices
A new member of the ZIP semiconductor test probe family has been launched by Everett Charles Technologies. The Z-080YHJ is designed to meet the many challenges associated with testing High End Digital (HED) devices. ZIP probes are a cost effective solution that provide excellent mechanical reliability and electrical performance.
Voltage testers measure up to 1200V/DC
A new series of in-house designed VOLTCRAFT voltage testers has been introduced by Conrad Business Supplies. The new VC 60 series comprises the VC 62, VC 63 and VC 64 models, with a VC 65 model to be released later in the year including vibration alarm, safety rating CAT III 1000 V and a measuring range of up to 1200 V/DC.
In-system memory programming cut from minutes to seconds
Programming memory in-system, or after the devices have been soldered to a circuit board, is the most efficient method, but the challenge for design and manufacturing engineers has always been the slow speeds of the process. Now, enhancements to ASSET InterTech’s ScanWorks platform for embedded instruments can speed up in-system programming by a factor of 1,000, reducing programming times from 10 or more minutes to one or two seconds.
Signal testing solution prioritises vehicle safety
New functionality has been added to Anritsu’s MD8475A network simulator, to provide the first laboratory hardware in the loop system level test for the European eCall systemand Russian ERA/GLONASS system. With vehicle safety at the forefront of automotive testing and development, ensuring the quickest response from emergency services in the event of a traffic accident could save millions of lives.
System & component testing range is expanded
IPETRONIK business division IPEtec has extended its product range in the fields of system test benches and component testing. Besides planning, constructing and operating test benches, IPETRONIK's refrigerant flow and thermal management experts now also provide special devices like user-friendly compressor load units and complementary cleaning systems.

Arance’s NAC series highly flexible test assemblies have a rugged, lightweight construction that enables longer service life, reduced downtime, and lower operating costs over the life of the equipme...
EuMW 2015: Design, test solutions on parade in Paris
Keysight Technologies is heading to European Microwave Week in Paris ready to demonstrate a wide range of design, test and characterisation solutions. Keysight has been a twelve-year platinum sponsor of the event, and this year will have technical experts on hand to discuss and demonstrate the latest high-performance hardware and software solutions.
Solving challenging imaging problems
STEMMER IMAGING’s novel Trevista Surface 50 inspection system is supplied complete with structured diffuse illumination, lens, software, PC and a 5MP Genie TS camera from Teledyne DALSA. Using a patented 'shape from shading' technology, information on the 3D shape of an object can be deduced from the shading of its surfaces. This allows defects of just a few micrometre diameter and depth to be detected on a variety of material surfaces.
Battery monitoring LSI offers 25μA current consumption
LAPIS Semiconductor, a ROHM Group company, has recently announced the development of a 10-cell lithium-ion battery monitoring LSI that provides a current consumption of only 25μA (typ.), the lowest in the industry, making it suitable for battery protection systems in cordless vacuum cleaners, electric tools, and other portable equipment.
