All-encompassing next-gen power modules simplify design
A whitepaper from Maxim Integrated Products, entitled Next Generation Power Modules Further Simplify Power Design, explains how power supply design can be simplified with a next-gen, flexible, easy-to-use power module. Using prefabricated power modules allows system designers to reduce time to market and address PCB space constraints.
300-1500W AC/DC power supplies offer quality & reliability
Artesyn LCM series AC/DC power supplies have built a reputation for quality and efficiency at a competitive cost, with industrial and medical safety approvals. Artesyn has invested in the manufacturing of the LCM series to shorten lead times and lower the minimum order quantity for non-stock units. With a range from 300 to 1500W, Artesyn can now provide for a very wide range of AC/DC embedded power requirements.
AC/DC power supplies work fanlessly
Two series of AC/DC power supplies designed for medical applications - the RACM100 and the RACM150 - are in stock at distributor Rutronik. The high efficiency power supplies work fanlessly while meeting two means of patient protection (2xMOPP). The RECOM power supplies provide 100W or 135W maximum power without forced cooling.
Multifunction gates feature user-customised logic configurations
Four recent multifunction gates that feature user-customised logic configurations so that a single part can replace multiple devices have been announced by Diodes Incorporated. This product line expansion adds a level of versatility to the company's existing 74AUP1G logic family and provides valuable space and weight saving benefits in space-constrained applications such as fitness wearables, smartphones and other portable consumer electronic dev...
Magnetically coupled components target frequencies of up to 500kHz
German manufacturer of soft magnetic materials and inductive components, SMP Sintermetalle Prometheus, has expanded its portfolio of inductive components with the development and design of magnetically coupled components.
Battery charger controller supports digital telemetry
Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC4015, a highly integrated, high voltage multichemistry synchronous step-down battery charger controller with onboard telemetry functions. The device efficiently transfers power from a variety of input sources, such as wall adapters and solar panels, to a Li-Ion/Polymer, LiFePO4 or lead-acid battery stack and system load up to 35V.
650V IGBTs increase power conversion efficiency
STMicroelectronics' M-series of 650V IGBTs offers designers a fast and affordable way to increase the efficiency of HVAC motor drives, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, solar power converters, and all power-conversion applications working up to 20kHz in hard-switching circuit topologies.
Wirelessly power wearables
Wireless power coils for wearables are now available from Würth Elektronik. The company are offering two transmitter coils and three receiver coils which are adapted to the already existing standard chip sets for the WPC Qi standard, making it easy to use already available designs by exchanging the coils for wearables.
‘Micro’ DC/DC converters target wearables
Suitable for applications that require a low quiescent current, such as wearable devices, healthcare devices, BLE devices and energy harvesting, the XCL210 series of step-down DC/DC converters has been introduced by Torex Semiconductor. The ‘micro’ DC/DC converters feature an integrated control IC and coil.
'Micro' DC/DC converters operate at 105°C
Two series of step-down DC/DC converters with a 500mA integrated coil and control IC have been released by Torex Semiconductor. Supporting an ambient operating temperature of 105°C, the XCL221 and XCL222 series of ‘micro' DC/DC converters are suitable for applications such as wireless devices, wearable devices that require high efficiency.
