Buck regulator extends 48V direct to Point of Load product family
The PI3526-00-LGIZ is the latest addition to the Cool-Power ZVS Buck Regulator Portfolio with a 48V (30-60Vin) input. The PI352x is a higher current offering to the existing PI354x portfolio enabling scalable power options for 48V Direct to Point of Load (PoL) applications. The PI3526-00-LGIZ is a 12V output regulator, supplying up to 18A, packaged in a 10x14mm LGA SiP package.
Switching regulators operate at up to 93% efficiency
A range of boost switching regulators that enable designers to power devices such as microcontrollers, radio modules, or energy-conscious IoT systems at up to 100mA for long periods from a single 1.5V cell is available at Dengrove Electronic Components. The RECOM R-78S 0.33W regulators ensure longer lifetime by maintaining a stable 3.3V output as the battery discharges as low as 0.65V.
Wideband GaN PA offers high performance & compact design
Analog Devices has introduced a wideband gallium nitride (GaN) power amplifier that offers best-in-class performance within a compact design. Covering the 300MHz to 6GHz spectrum, the highly integrated HMC8205 provides significant benefits for system designers of applications such as wireless infrastructure, radar, public mobile radio, and general-purpose amplification test equipment that require pulse or continuous wave (CW) support.
Low-power embedded SRAM achieves battery-free operation
The successful development of a new low-power SRAM circuit technology has been announced by Renesas Electronics. The technology can be embedded in application specific standard products (ASSPs) for Internet of Things (IoT), home electronics, and healthcare applications. The new technology provides a function for switching dynamically, with a low power overhead, between active operation, in which the CPU core performs read and write operations of ...
Power supply modules provide UPS backup across many applications
The CliQ II DC-UPS family from Delta Electronics, which is suitable for DIN rail mounting is available from Luso. It has been designed to provide simplicity, efficiency and cost competitiveness for general-purpose 24V power supply units (PSUs). Compliant with major EMC and safety standards for IT and industrial requirements, the family is suited to provide back-up DC power in a variety of applications including data centres, building automation, ...
Energy storage made more efficient with 2kW power reference design
Texas Instruments has introduced the industry’s first 2-kilowatt (kW) isolated bidirectional DC/DC converter reference design for 48 to 400V Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) and energy storage systems.
Smallest isolated 8W DC/DC Converter with ultra-wide input range
The new MDWI08 series of 8W Isolated/Regulated DC/DC converters has been announced by MINMAX with ultra-wide input ranges in the smallest/ultra-compact 16 pin DIP package measuring only 0.94x0.54x0.31”, that offers a very high power density up to 50W/in3.

The medical grade TMC650 series of 600-650W AC/DC switching power supplies is featured by Tumbler Technologies and TRUMPower, and is BF rated featuring an operation altitude of up to 5000m. The series is designed to meet IEC/EN/UL 60601-1 Edition 3.1, ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1:2012, CSA C22.2 No. 60601-1: 2014 and the 2nd edition of IEC/EN 60950-1.
Keeping the noise down: Converter and inverter output filtering
Most modern power conversion topologies use switched-mode techniques for highest efficiency and smallest size and cost. Inevitably, switching noise is produced and output filters are required to minimise EMI and provide reliable operation of the power converter and load. This article looks at the effects of noise and some of the filtering techniques that can be used.
