FPGAs
AFE connects multiple sensors to MCUs or FPGAs
A highly integrated sensor interface AFE that provides calibration of sensor outputs has been introduced by Exar. The XR10910 offers an onboard 16:1 differential multiplexer, offset correction DAC, programmable gain instrumentation amplifier and voltage reference. This AFE provides 14-bit signal path linearity and is designed to connect multiple bridge sensors to an MCU or FPGA with an embedded ADC.
Evaluation board accelerates FPGA designs
The ECP5 Versa Evaluation Board from Lattice Semiconductor is now in stock at Mouser Electronics. Part of the ECP5 Versa Development Kit, the ECP5 Versa Evaluation Board enables developers to experiment with the features of Lattice Semiconductor’s ECP5 Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), including PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet, DDR3, and generic SERDES performance.
FPGA-based reference design doubles NAND Flash life
Based on the company's Arria 10 SoCs, a storage reference design that doubles the life of NAND flash has been introduced by Altera. It can also increase the number of programme-erase cycles by up to seven times compared to current NAND flash implementations.
FPGA allows smartphone to perform sensor hub functions
Lattice Semiconductor has announced that its iCE40 LM FPGA has been integrated in the recently released ZTE Star 2 smartphone to perform IR remote control, and sensor hub functions.
Secure boot FPGA protects valuable IP from attack
Microsemi has completed Differential Power Analysis (DPA) testing on its secure boot FPGA solution, which resolves side channel vulnerabilities inherent in the configuration process of large SRAM FPGAs. The DPA testing was completed using the Test Vector Leakage Assessment (TVLA) methodology developed by Cryptography Research Incorporated (CRI), a division of Rambus.
Arria 10 FPGAs enable Ethernet interconnection technology
Altera has announced that its Arria 10 FPGAs have been chosen by Silkan, a provider of real-time data transmission, for its deterministic real-time high-speed Ethernet interconnection technology.
Programmable logic innovations double performance
The architectural and product details of Altera's Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs, which deliver breakthrough levels of performance, integration, density and security, have been revealed. The high-end programmable logic devices leverage Altera’s revolutionary HyperFlex FPGA fabric architecture built on the Intel 14nm Tri-Gate process to provide twice the core performance compared to previous-gen FPGAs.
Sibridge Technologies develops IP cores for Microsemi FPGAs
Microsemi and Sibridge Technologies have announced the release of a suite of high-speed IP cores targeting Microsemi’s SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs and IGLOO2 FPGAs. This extends Microsemi’s prior engagement with Sibridge Technologies by adding Sibridge as an approved CompanionCore provider. The CompanionCore programme offers a wide selection of synthesisable IP cores that are licensed, supported and maintained directly by Microsemi pa...
FPGAs qualified as QML Class Q
Microsemi has announced its Radiation-Tolerant (RT) ProASIC3 FPGAs have been qualified by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency as QML (Qualified Manufacturers List) Class Q. The devices are also the first flash-based FPGAs to receive a QML qualification.
28nm Cyclone V FPGAs offer secure voice communications
Altera has announced that its 28nm Cyclone V FPGAs have been chosen by Harris for its latest Falcon III wideband tactical radio. The radio, currently in production, has been designated by the U.S. NSA to be NSA Type-1 certified, enabling Harris to field the radio for secure voice and data communications.
