Overlay screen detects up to 48 touch points
Luso Electronics now has available TimeLink’s multi-touch panels to overlay LCD/LED monitors creating display screens that flawlessly detect up to 48 touch points simultaneously. This panel allows single or multiple users to interact with devices such as ATMs, POS kiosks, digital signage and entertainment screens with a better level of gesture control for greater functionality and ease of use.

Compact LED doubles lumen output
The new Osram Ostar Stage LED from Osram Opto Semiconductors offers more than twice the lumen output than earlier members of the product family with a component surface that is only 30% larger. The LED, available from distributor Rutronik is ideal for more compact and powerful moving heads for stage and spotlights for trade fairs and architectural lighting.

Atmel has launched its next-gen maXTouch U family, bringing the world’s first capacitive touchscreen solution to aid display design. OEMs will no longer have to worry about touch and display performance when selecting thinner stacks such as on-cell, hybrid in-cell, full in-cell touchscreens utilising very thin film and glass substrates.
Blue light & flicker technolgies address eye health concerns

Electrophoretic display suits mobile applications
An electrophoretic active matrix display, which is claimed to drastically reduce time-to-market, has been released by Electronic Assembly. The EA ELABEL20 A ePaper, offered with built-in intelligence, has a diagonal size of 2". Alongside a large number of graphic functions, the device features eight built-in fonts. Users can also upload additional fonts.
P-cap sensors enable multi-touch tables
Zytronic has secured on-going business with interactive furniture producer HUMElab. With the assistance of its French distributor Eurocomposant, the company is now producing ultra-durable p-cap sensors for a series of multi-touch table products, targeted at use in home, restaurant and hospitality settings.
LCD modules significantly reduce EMC problems
Two 7” widescreen (800x480px) WVGA on-cell touch LCD modules, featuring built-in touch sensors, have been introduced by Kyocera. The TCG070W VLRPC-GD117 and TCG070W VLRPC-GD118 expand the company’s range of LCDs. The capacitive touch sensor is built into the display’s front glass, resulting in a compact on-cell touch display.
SMD LEDs eliminate light bleed issues
Kingbright’s wide range of SMD-LEDs with dome lens is on sale at TTI. The dome lens packages, which include 0603 (KPTD-1608), 1206 (KPTD-3216), PLCC (KPED-3528) among others, provide narrow viewing angles of 15deg. to 30deg. thereby giving a more focussed and brighter output that eliminates any issue with light bleed.
TFT LCD display deal covers UK/Ireland
Ginsbury has signed a distribution agreement with Shenzhen-based LCD manufacturer Kingtech. It will market Kingtech’s small to medium size TFT LCD displays from 1.44in up to 10.2in in the UK and Ireland. Kingtech has become an established supplier of small to medium size TFT LCDs.
