Azul Systems enhances Zulu Embedded to support 32-bit ARM processors
Azul Systems has announced that Zulu Embedded, Azul’s open source Java Virtual Machine (JVM) based on OpenJDK, now supports 32-bit ARM processors, the dominant processor architecture for embedded designs. For manufacturers in the embedded, mobile and IoT markets, Zulu Embedded provides a proven Java platform that is 100% open source, Java SE standards compliant, fully certified by Azul, and requires no licensing fees.
Evaluation Kit designed to get up & running with sub-GHz radio design
AMIHO Technology and ROHM Semiconductor announce the launch of their latest Evaluation Kit, designed to get customers up and running rapidly with sub-GHz radio design. The kit contains two nodes based on AMIHO’s AM060 868MHz Wireless M-Bus radio modem module. This design features the ROHM LAPIS ML7345 radio transceiver.
Obsolescence challenges for the automotive industry
As the industry that introduced the traditional six-axis robotic arm to its production lines in the early 1960s, the automotive sector has, in some cases, stayed surprisingly stagnant when it comes to innovation. However, in the past few years the race to design and build self-driving cars, augmented reality windscreens and additive manufactured parts has started to gain speed.
Virtuoso platform features analogue verification technologies
Cadence Design Systems has announced the delivery of the next-gen Virtuoso platform which offers designers an average of 10x performance and capacity improvement across the platform. The platform includes new technologies within the Cadence Virtuoso Analog Design Environment (ADE) and enhancements to the Cadence Virtuoso Layout Suite to address requirements for automotive safety, medical device and IoT applications.

What are the risks in medical device design?
Jean-Louis Evans, Managing Director at TÜV SÜD Product Service, explains how legislation can keep pace with the fast evolution of medical technology. While medical technology evolves at a fast rate, traditionally test standards develop much more slowly.
PCB design at a turning point
Today’s consumer needs are significantly increasing PCB design and created a number of business challenges for example, increased pressure to meet delivery deadlines, the need to lower development cost, increasing product reliability and the rise of differentiated products. However, a number of internal barriers such as increasing design complexity, frequent design changes and validation of performance mean that a number of trade-offs have ...
IAR Systems enhances ARM tools with extended static analysis
IAR Systems presents an updated version of the world’s most widely used C/C++ compiler and debugger toolchain for developing ARM-based embedded applications. Version 7.60 of IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM adds flash breakpoints functionality and extended static analysis in C-STAT. The highly requested tool C-STAT performs advanced static analysis by doing an analysis on the source code level.
Ethertronics reduces design schedule by half
Cadence Design Systems has announced that Ethertronics, a leader in ultra-high performance smart antenna system solutions, used Cadence Conformal ECO Designer to completely redesign the digital interface section of a complex RF/mixed-signal design by reusing transistors in the base layers, enabling the redesign in a metal only change.
