RF ADC sets performance benchmarks for defence
Analog Devices has introduced a RF ADC that delivers speed and bandwidth. The AD9213 features higher parametric performance, Nyquist bandwidth, and RF sampling capabilities at higher analog input frequencies than conventional RF ADCs, allowing for the digitisation of RF signals up to 7GHz.
4.5 kV press-pack IEGT with improved rupture resistance
Toshiba Electronics Europe will be providing details on packaging for its 4.5kV class press-pack IEGT (PPI) devices at PCIM 2018 in Nürnberg. The packaging has been developed to further improve the rupture resistance of the device, thereby reducing the likelihood of damage to surrounding components and systems in the event of device failure. The package is the result of research undertaken to evaluate the optimum volume ratio of materia...
Rugged modular power supplies support 30W to 120W range
Elma has added four rugged power supply modules to its growing family of power solutions. The PCI-104-based PSUs can be used as the bottom module in any PC/104, PC/104-Plus, PCI-104, PCIe/104 or PCI/104-Express embedded system stack arrangement. They can also provide power for other small form factor (SFF) embedded computing systems, such as COM Express.
FETs deliver industry’s highest-performance upgrade path
Designers of Power Factor Correction stages (PFCs), Active Frontend Rectifiers, LLC converters and Phase Shift Full Bridge converters can now upgrade existing system performance by using the UJ3C1200 series of SiC JFET cascodes from UnitedSiC. With a voltage rating of 1200V and ON-resistances of 80 and 40 milliohms, these devices offer a ‘drop-in’ replacement solution for many existing IGBT, Si-MOSFET and SiC-MOSFET parts, with no cha...
Packaging keeps its cool
Packaging innovation leads to vastly improved cooling and thermal management, says Stefan Preimel, concept and application engineer, Infineon Technologies
Redesigning a classic
High frequency ranges bring speed and noise immunity improvements to the established CWT range of wideband Rogowski current probes, says Chris Hewson, Power Electronic Measurements
Driving leading-edge SiC/GaN power converters
To take advantage of the new power switch technologies, a complete ecosystem of ICs must be implemented in converter design, starting with the gate driver, says Stefano Gallinaro, Analog Devices and Imad Owaineh, Watt&Well
GMR isolation boosts Profibus
Best practices for new designs of Profibus DP nodes, bus node isolation, Profibus compliance, and bus signal polarity are discussed by Tom Kugelstadt, Renesas Electronics
Reducing power consumption in battery-powered IoT applications
In internet of things (IoT) applications, a long battery lifetime is essential and any technique to extend the useful lifetime would be welcomed, predict Steve Roberts and Maria Alcantara, Recom
Intel Atom x7-E3950 SBC supports extended temperatures
IBASE Technology Inc. has announced the IB818 3.5-inch SBC that can be powered by the Intel Atom QC x7-E3950, Pentium QC N4200 or Celeron DC N3350 SoC (formerly Apollo Lake) processor, providing improvement in both CPU and graphics performance compared with previous generations. With the Intel Atom x7-E3950 SoC, it supports extended temperature of -40°C to 85°C, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor installations.
