RedMere has announced the introduction of the environmentally friendly long cable module family consisting of the PRE1691, PRE1692, PRE1694 and PRE1694. The PRE169x family are compact, fully compliant, High Speed HDMI booster modules that guarantee an interoperable performance over thinner, more eco-friendly cables for distances of up to 45 meters.
RedMere’s patented technology for active HDMI cables means that 80% less copper and PVC are needed in manufacture compared to standard HDMI cables. The loss of the thickness of the gauge in these eco-friendly active cables means that the wire can be produced thinner, lighter and longer. The smart active booster module inside the connector of the HDMI cable compensates for the loss of copper and achieves data rates of 3.4Gbps per channel up to 20 meters in length. Installers and consumers alike need to know that the HDMI cable that runs through walls and ceilings in the home is future-proofed and can guarantee picture perfect 1080p output and can also guard against rising data-rates. RedMere’s PRE169x family fully supports 4K2K and 3D rates as well as 1440p DTV resolutions, 16-bit colour depth and 120Hz refresh rates requiring no external power supply.

RedMere enabled environmentally friendly HDMI cables are not only slimmer than traditional HDMI cables but their sleek, slim look means that they complement current ultra-slim HDTV architecture and they are easier to guide, hide and route in the home.

RedMere’s CEO Ruud van der Linden commented “The PRE169x family addresses the needs of the world’s most eco-friendly long HDMI cables. These devices will be embraced by the home-installer segment who will immediately see the simplification of routing cables. We believe this will also open up new potential customers; such as for High Definition Connectivity in an office environment to large displays or projectors. Since our chip requires no external power due to its low power design and patented power-harvesting techniques, end customers can use our cables anywhere they would a passive cable and external booster.”

The PRE169x embedded technology provides active equalization functionality without requiring an external power source, compensating for signal attenuation on the differential TMDS data inputs up to 3.4Gbps. Each of the three TMDS data channels is individually equalized. This enables the implementation of an extremely robust design. As well as allowing highly attenuated cables to pass the HDMI ATC eye diagram tests, the PRE169x family also require no external power source due to its low power design and patented power-harvesting techniques.
