Development tool enables wiring harnesses to be completely modelled
The wiring harness is considered to be one of the most expensive and difficult individual parts of the electrical/electronic architecture. Vector’s development tool PREEvision allows its physical attributes to be completely modelled. It describes the complexity of current cabling systems with diagrams, takes details into account and makes the entire structure easily understandable.
Interconnect system meets PCIe and SAS applications
An interconnect system from Molex dubbed Nano-Pitch I/O is available at Mouser Electronics. The system’s multi-protocol pinout concept enables compatibility with all known SAS, SATA and PCIe protocols and provides enhanced signal integrity in an extremely compact form factor. The connector is ideal for SAS and PCIe applications, including storage-to-controller, server-to-server, server-to-switch, switch-to-switch, and mobile and enterprise.
Reliable connectivity for CPUs in server platforms
TE Connectivity has announced its LGA 3647 Socket for Intel’s processors specified under their new server platforms. The socket meets next-gen design requirements of these latest CPU processors for higher performance and better system scaling. As one of only two validated suppliers of this technology, TE is a key source of this vital socket for new platforms used in data centres and High Performance Computing (HPC).
Power connectors enhanced with three pole versions
The extensive range of binder M12 s-coded power connectors has been enhanced with the introduction of new three pole (2+PE) versions with a pre-engaging contact and featuring both field attachable cable and panel mount versions with wires. Previously only available in 4-pole (3+PE), these new versions are ideal for mains voltage (250V) applications.
Power connectors cover myriad of applications
A comprehensive range of the Hypertac HBB high-performance, circular power connectors are now available at Aerco at competitive prices and low MOQs. Offering a combination of high current capability, versions are available rated up to 750A, with small size and high levels of environmental performance, the HBB range is ideal for electric drives used in fighting vehicles, weapons, avionics, rail transport and automotive and medical equipment.
Integrated backshell connectors suit aerospace & defence
Esterline Connection Technologies (SOURIAU - SUNBANK) has announced an all-in-one range of 38999 Series III connectors with integrated backshell, offering flexibility and versatility. Souriau and Sunbank have combined their skills and expertise to answer the growing need in the aerospace and defence industries for smaller, lighter components.
USB ‘Gender Change’ connectors to integrate USB2 networking
Two new connectors have been added to Cliff Electronics’ range of XLR-Format Feedthrough Data Connectors. The new chassis mounted ‘gender change’ sockets are available in USB2 A-to-B and B-to-A versions and allow designers to integrate USB2 networking and data feeds into professional equipment for broadcast, lighting, audio and industrial applications.
Connector eliminates the need for special cables with reduced PE
Complementing the 50 different modules already available in the Han-Modular range, HARTING has announced a PE (Protective Earth) module for the pluggable connection of large PE cross sections of between 10 and 35mm2.
Organic nanowire synaptic transistors emulate biological synapses
A team of researchers with the Pohang University of Science and Technology in Korea has created organic nanowire synaptic transistors that emulate the working principles of biological synapses. As they describe in their paper published in the journal Science Advances, the artificial synapses they have created use much smaller amounts of power than other devices developed thus far and rival that of their biological counterparts.
Heat resistant connectors can eliminate shielding need
Two new UL-approved Magnetic Integrated Connector (MIC) modules from Elec & Eltek have been added to the Luso Electronics product portfolio. One option uses heat-resistant liquid crystal polymer (LCP) in place of standard plastics. The other RJ45 MIC upgrade integrates a Bridge Diode Array to eliminate polarity issues.
