Test & Measurement
EMC laboratory used by customers & students to solve EMC issues
Recom’s recently opened headquarters has a well-equipped EMC laboratory, that can be used by customers and students to solve EMC issues in their own applications. The first projects have already been successfully concluded. One user of the new facility was a large international manufacturer of water pumps who needed to modify a product for EMC certification.
Flow meters feature pressure resistances of 10 & 16 bars
A range of flow meters, which are available in three different sizes and more than 20 measuring ranges, have been introduced by Meister Strömungstechnik. The RVO/U flow meters work on the float principle. This measuring technique has proven its reliability over decades, providing sturdy performance and rapid response times.
Switching system test tools lower cost of ownership
Pickering Interfaces is lowering the cost of ownership of switching systems with the introduction of its eBIRST Switching System Test Tools. These diagnostic test tools, designed specifically for Pickering Interfaces PXI, PCI or LXI (Ethernet) products, simplify switching system fault finding by quickly testing the system and identifying the faulty relays.
TAP transceiver boosts production efficiency
GOEPEL electronics has developed a new rack-mountable SCANFLEX TAP transceiver which enables testing and programming of multiple units under test (UUT), using 16 parallel test access ports (TAP). The space- and power-saving SFX-TAP16/G-RM-FXT allows the use in the production line as well as in applications with large distances to the target.
Improving 3D automotive navigation accuracy
Increasingly dense urban environments, covered car parks and multi-level highways pose a significant problem to vehicle navigation systems. Two techniques are used: dead reckoning and map matching but using the latter increases complexity and creates a dependency on 3rd-party providers of accurate map data. Also, the map data is constantly changing, especially in high-density cities.
Partners take wraps off 5G channel sounding solution
Rohde & Schwarz and Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI) will present a novel 5G channel sounding solution at the NGMN Industry Conference in Frankfurt/Main. The solution comprises the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and the R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyser in combination with a synchronisation unit and application software from Fraunhofer HHI.
PCIM provides platform for Rogowski technology demo
The PCIM exhibition in Nuremberg (May 19-20) provides a platform for Power Electronic Measurements to demonstrate its full range of Rogowski technology based wide-bandwidth current probes. Featuring the latest CWT MiniHF, the company will show how this AC probe provides better common mode immunity to local high voltage transients, and provides a more precise measurement delay which can be compensated for to give improved power loss measurement in...
Panels for Bloodhound Supersonic Car are ballistic tested
As the design and build of the Bloodhound Supersonic Car (SSC) moves into the final few months before heading to South Africa to challenge the world land speed record, Morgan Advanced Materials has conducted specialist ballistic testing on the panels it has provided to form part of the driver cockpit.
Bench-top multimeters deliver data faster
Farnell element14 has strengthened its test and measurement portfolio with the addition of Keysight Technologies’ 34465A and 34470A TrueVolt range of Bench Digital Multimeters. The multimeters come in both 6½ and 7½ digit models. The instruments give engineers a selection of visual representations of measurement data in multiple ways on a 4.3-inch, high-resolution colour display, including advanced graphical capabilities such ...
Tunable laser source reduces test costs
Keysight Technologies has introduced the 81606A tunable laser source, a new module for the 8164B lightwave measurement system. With sub-picometer tuning repeatability and excellent wavelength accuracy, even in full-speed, two-way sweeps, the new module helps verify the design of demanding devices and reduce test cost per device.
