Silicon 'sawdust’ in a graphene cage boosts battery performance
Scientists have been trying for years to make a practical lithium-ion battery anode out of silicon, which could store 10 times more energy per charge than today’s commercial anodes and make high-performance batteries a lot smaller and lighter. But two major problems have stood in the way: Silicon particles swell, crack and shatter during battery charging, and they react with the battery electrolyte to form a coating that saps their performa...
1W DC/DC converter series features high I/O isolation of 3000VDC
Aimtec has added an addition to it's AM1DR-NZ series of 1W power supplies featuring a regulated output signal with higher input to output isolation of 3000VDC. Supporting input voltages of 5, 12, or 24VDC converted to single output voltages of 5, 12, 15 or 24 VDC. The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 85°C with derating above 71°C.
2W DC/DC converter features continuous short-circuit protection
Aimtec announces the AM2DS-NZ, 2W series DC/DC unregulated converters. AM2DS-NZ feature continuous short-circuit protection with automatic recovery restart. The restart feature will work continuously until the short-circuit condition is cleared protecting the converter, the load and the converter’s input circuit and source from extremely high currents caused by output short circuits.
Universal DIN-rail mounting kit for power supplies
Excelsys Technologies announce the introduction of a DIN-Rail mounting accessory for their innovative, high power density, single output and user configurable modular power supplies. The mounting accessory facilitates easy mounting of Excelsys power supplies to a standard 35mm DIN-Rail and is compatible with the very successful Xgen, UltiMod and Xsolo product families.
High efficiency power IC suits car audio applications
ROHM has announced a system power supply IC for the car audio market that, according to the company, features the lowest power consumption in the industry. The BD49101AEFS-M leverages ROHM’s expertise in car audio power system design to achieve an optimised system based on a high-efficiency DC/DC converter, reducing power consumption by 65%, from 13.3W with ROHM’s conventional products to an industry-leading 4.66W.
7% lower fuel consumption with active gas pedal
The driver’s foot is responsible for one-quarter of fuel consumption. Up to now, the only thing that could be done about this rule of thumb was to drive gently and take eco-driving courses. Now, however, Bosch has developed a technical aid in the shape of the active gas pedal: its gentle vibration tells drivers when they have crossed the line from light touch to lead foot.
Buck converter delivers high efficiency over full load range
Designed for battery-powered applications such as mobiles and wearables, the AP3405 DC/DC buck converter has been introduced by Diodes Incorporated. Delivering high efficiency under light and heavy loads, the converter's fixed switching frequency of 2MHz reduces the size of external components while a small U-DFN2020-8 package saves board area.
Common mode difference amplifier offers 97dB min CMRR
Linear introduces the LT6375, a unity-gain difference amplifier with integrated precision matched resistors, which precisely level shifts and buffers small difference signals while rejecting up to ±270V common mode. The A-grade version achieves unprecedented performance: CMRR is 97dB (min), initial gain error is 35ppm (max), gain drift is 1ppm/°C (max) and gain nonlinearity is 2ppm (max) with a common mode divide ratio of 25:1.
Meeting sophisticated power requirements
MTM Power has introduced the HSA50 DIN-rail module, designed as a universal compact power supply with AC (90-264V AC) and DC (120-340V DC) wide input range for use under rough environmental conditions. The modules are available with single outputs of 12V, 24V and 48V.
DC-DC converters offer 24V input option
The RKZ DC-DC converters from RECOM introduce the option of a 24V input that completes the 2W RKZ series and scales easily from the package- and pin-compatible 1W RK and RH series converters. The new 24V models join the existing RKZ converters with 5V, 12V and 15V inputs. The converters are in stock at Dengrove Electronic Components.
