Converters offer industry low 10.5µA quiescent current
Designed for factory automation and automotive sensor applications requiring high efficiency, two 65V, 150mA synchronous DC/DC buck converters have been unveiled by Texas Instruments. The industrial-grade LM5165 and automotive-grade LM5165-Q1 micro-power step-down regulators feature a 10.5µA quiescent current, claimed to be the industry's lowest.
Industrial power supplies deliver 2500W in slim-line 1U high format
TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the RFE2500 series of AC/DC power supplies. Rated at up to 2500W output power, the units are available in three output voltages, 12, 24 and 48V. Featuring screw terminal and bus-bar connections, this very compact series does not require an additional plug-in rack or backplane making it ideal for space-constrained industrial, communications and test & measurement applications.
Discrete IGBT provides high energy efficiency & reliability
Infineon Technologies has introduced a discrete 600V TRENCHSTOP Performance IGBT which provides high energy efficiency and reliability at a competitive price point for applications such as air conditioning, PV inverters, drives and UPS. Based on Infineon’s TRENCHSTOP technology, the IGBT is optimised for hard switching topologies working at frequencies of up to 30kHz.
Evaluation kit eases path into digital power control
Worldwide availability of the new XMC Digital Power Explorer Kit from Infineon has been announced by RS Components. The kit was created for analogue power supply designers and embedded software programmers to help accelerate their learning in the capabilities of digital power control. The kit is also very useful for digital engineers to gather a better understanding of PMBusTM technologies for the digital control of power supplies.
GaN power switching transistors stack to shrink
Small, reliable, high-voltage GaN power switching transistors from GaN Systems are provided in compact GaNPX packages for integration into power and wireless modules, media codecs and high signal integrity applications, such as sensors and amplifiers.
Eplax acquisition strengthens Powerbox portfolio
Powerbox has acquired the privately-held German power supply manufacturer Eplax. The acquisition strengthens Powerbox's custom-power capabilities, addressing its four major markets - industrial, medical, railway/transportation, and defence - for which the company designs and distributes premium power conversion solutions for systems requiring high reliability.
'Fit and forget' miniature battery suits IoT sensors
A miniaturised solid state battery technology for IoT devices, the Stereax M250 has been introduced by Ilika, a spin-out from the School of Chemistry at the University of Southampton. Addressing the key challenge of always-on, self-charging and efficient energy, Ilika’s Stereax battery family will enable smaller, higher energy-dense batteries to accelerate IoT products to market.
Power entry module designed for home medical equipment
The KMF power entry module from Schurter is for use in protection class II double-insulated applications and is now in stock at distributor Rutronik. It provides high functionality in a compact package, just like the popular module for use in protection class I. The new version is suited for medical equipment used at home.
3.5/5kW 3-phase AC/DC power supply targets data centres
Murata Power Solutions has announced a highly efficient, 3.5/5kW, three-phase power converter for 230/480VAC systems. The D2U5T-H3-5000-380-HU3C operates from utility-grade, three-phase AC power to deliver 5kW of reliable power to 380V distributed power systems, HVDC data centres and other industrial applications.
DC/DC converters feature an internal 18V operation driver transistor
Torex Semiconductor has launched the XC9263/XC9264 series of synchronous step-down DC/DC converters with an internal 18V-operation driver transistor and an output current of 500mA. A shift from LDO to DC/DC is gaining strength in recent years in order to reduce standby power consumption. Power consumption also is being reduced in digital audio/visual equipment, large household appliances and industrial equipment and the demand for low power consu...
