36V buck regulators eliminate switch-node ringing
Reducing EMI, improving power density and enabling operation in deep drop-out conditions, two 36V, 2.1MHz synchronous buck regulators that eliminate switch-node ringing have been announced by Texas Instruments. The 2.5A LM53625-Q1 and 3.5A LM53635-Q1 regulators are designed for high-voltage DC/DC step-down applications such as automotive infotainment, high-end cluster, ADAS and body power-supply systems.
DC converters meet high levels of energy efficiency
Claimed to offer significant operating improvements to reduce energy consumption for today’s electronics systems, the R3 series of DC converters from Mornsun, are available from distributor PowerPax.
Isolated IGBT reduces thermal resistance
The new isolated IXYS IGBT Copack ITF48IF1200HR, consists of a fast 1200V short circuit rated (10µs) Trench IGBT Chip with a current capability of 48A (@ TC = 100°C) and a similar rated 48A fast Sonic soft-recovery freewheeling diode packed in a backside-isolated TO-247 for screw mounting. It is available from MSC Technologies
Customisable power supplies come in six variants
A brand new range of highly customisable power supplies – the Quint Power range from Phoenix Contact is now available at Conrad Business Supplies. Quint Power is said to be the first parameterisable power supply in the world. It can be supplied to customers pre-configured allowing them to implement power directly into their systems with no additional configuration required in manufacturing.
Multi-channel programmable power control provides efficient DC rails
Today, systems place complicated demands on multiple low-voltage DC rails. Tuomas Hollman, Exar, explains how a power controller can manage diverse needs
Next-generation router and switches demand flexible DC/DC controllers
Increasing complexity in routers and switches demand efficient power supplies in a small form factor. Bruce Haug, Linear Technology, explains how a multi-phase, step-down controller plays a part in meeting these challenges
Power optimisation in battery based wireless sensor nodes
This video is the first in a series that covers battery-based sensor node basics for building automation applications.
Solid state relays allow significantly higher peak transient voltages
With four newly added H16WD_ series solid state relays, Schukat is expanding its range of Crydom electronic load relays in the hockey-puck housing, with screw terminals, for single-phase alternating voltages up to 690V. These load relays are equipped with thyristor outputs, allowing load currents of 25A, 50A, 75A and even 90A (RMS) at load voltages from 48VAC to 690VAC, and are controlled using DC control curren...
Top three things that can go wrong with event power
We are on the verge of festival season once again. That means that people up and down the country will be looking at their list of things to pack, checking off sleeping bags, wellies, toilet paper, and tickets.
China joins global drive for transformer efficiency
The trend for high efficiency transformers has now spread to China, according to CEEIA, placing pressure on Chinese transformer manufacturers, as well as their electrical steel, cable and coil winding equipment suppliers to effectively balance performance with cost.
