Power Electronics Industry Collaborative panelists share their visions
The Power Electronics Industry Collaborative (PEIC) has organised a special session on workforce challenges and opportunities facing the power electronics industry at the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress & Expo (ECCE). The event is being held 1st–5th, 2017 in Cincinnati, OH. Providing a set of perspectives on this timely industry issue, six expert panellists from PEIC member companies and affiliates shared their collective vision fo...
Quarter Brick DC/DC converter provides high efficiency
The ADQ800 series has been announced by Artesyn Embedded Technologies, as a new 800W quarter-brick isolated DC/DC converter with the high efficiency and thermal performance demanded by telecom network and data centre equipment. Capable of delivering up to 70A output current with a single fully regulated 11.8V output, the converters have no minimum load requirement.
Two new on-line battery backup systems offer power protection
New additions have been added to Para Systems’ line of Minuteman Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). These battery backup systems utilise double conversion technology and provide power management features for protecting large networks, servers, data storage, enterprise communications, large-scale security systems, industrial equipment, and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). The two product lines introduced are the Encompass Series an...
DC/DC Converters provide power for high-performance SiC gate drivers
Engineers working with silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs can overcome design challenges and increase system reliability with the latest DC/DC converters from Dengrove Electronic Components, which are designed specifically for powering high-slew-rate gate drivers.
Synchronous step down DC/DC converter demo
Maxim MAX17572 synchronous step down DC/DC converter is a high efficiency, high voltage, synchronous step down DC/DC converter with integrated MOSFETs that operates over a 4.5-60V input.
Rail power supply slim design receives maritime approval
Delta Electronics has added a new 24V/40A output to the CliQ M series of DIN rail power supply. The CliQ M series has the highest power density among the CliQ family and is also the first series in the CliQ family to feature Advanced Power Boost (APB). APB works to protect the system by ensuring continuous operation when a large inrush current is detected due to faulty load on a multiple load connection.
The latest models of the thermoelectric assembly product line
Laird has expanded its thermoelectric assembly (TEA) product offering to include a higher capacity range for critical medical equipment. Previously, the Tunnel Series TEAs offered cooling for capacities up to 39 W. The boosted Tunnel Series now offers cooling capacities exceeding 100 W to support a wider range of cooling applications.
DCM DC/DC converters in ChiP package with ±1% regulation
Vicor have extended its family of isolated, regulated DC/DC converter modules (DCMs) in ChiP packages, with a range of components that offer ±1% voltage regulation. The new series of DCMs are initially offered with 28, 270, and 275V nominal input voltages. These products are aimed at a variety of applications that require tighter output voltage regulation, including UAV, ground vehicle, radar, transportation and industrial controls.&n...
Learning more about bidirectional power conversion
Join Vicor at the IEEE Power Electronics Symposium on Long Island in New York on the 9th November, to learn more about bidirection power conversion, and where Vicor's own David Bourner will present, 'Bidirectional DC/DC Converter SystemsSustained with Power Component Methodology.'
How Vicor meets the demands of modern LED applications
Vicor's new PI3523 is a 48VIN, 3.3VOUT nominal Buck Regulator capable of supplying up to 22A. One of the key applications is for LED lighting, so Vicor asked Travis Williams, the product manager for this new regulator, to explain how Vicor meets the needs of modern LED applications.
