DC/DC converter family powers modern railway applications
The next generation of DCMs has been released by Vicor, with a family of wide input range (43–154V input) 3623 (36x23mm) ChiPs with power levels up to 240W and 93% efficiency, targeted at new rail transportation and infrastructure applications.
Synchronous rectifier controller delivers higher efficiency
Continuing its strategy to meet the industry-wide demand for increased power density and improved efficiency, Diodes Incorporated has introduced the ZXGD3113 synchronous rectifier controller. When coupled with a MOSFET, the pairing can be used to replace lossy Schottky rectifiers in power supplies based on a flyback or resonant converter topology.
Universal heavy current technology with maximum precision
The SINEAX DM5 series is the next generation of transducers introduced by Camille Bauer, which is a series of devices that are programmable universal measurement instruments for heavy current networks: classic high precision transducers for top hat rail mounting. They are suitable for almost any type of monitoring function and as well as for retrofitting in energy distribution and industry.
Automotive-grade high-voltage coupled inductors at APEC 2018
At the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) being held 4-8th March in San Antonio, Texas, Coilcraft will debut its LPD8035V series of miniature, high-voltage 1:1 coupled inductors. The LPD8035V provides 1,500Vrms, one-minute isolation (hipot) between windings from a package that measures 7.92x6.4x3.5mm, providing users with significant size and cost reductions over conventional bobbin-wound alternatives.
Logic dividers deliver space-saving up to 93% for system efficiency
Nexperia has announced a new range of AHC (Advanced High speed CMOS) dividers with oscillators that save space, increase efficiency and reduce overall system cost. This new 74AHC1G42xx dividers range also offers overvoltage-tolerant inputs for mixed voltage mode operation, increasing reliability and flexibility in designs.
Global semiconductor market could be up 12% in 2018
According to World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS), the global semiconductor market grew 21.6% for the year 2017. The market was much stronger than anticipated at the beginning of year. Semiconductor Intelligence tracked publicly available forecasts to determine which was the most accurate. It used forecasts made in late 2016 and early 2017 prior to the availability of the January 2017 WSTS data in March 2017.
SiC MOSFETs targeted at industrial and automotive markets
Microsemi Corporation, provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, has announced sampling availability of the first product in its next-generation 1200V Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETs, the 40mOhm MSC040SMA120B. The release of the complementary 1200V SiC Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs), has also been announced further expanding Microsemi's growing SiC discretes and modules portfolios.
Integrated high sensitivity current sensor IC for small currents
The first fully integrated GMR-based current sensor IC from Allegro MicroSystems has been released with ultra-high sensitivity for applications that require less more than 5A current sensing. The ACS70331 current sensor IC incorporates giant magneto-resistive (GMR) technology that is 25 times more sensitive than traditional Hall-effect sensor ICs to sense the magnetic field generated by the current flowing through the low resistance, integrated p...
Compact 6W DC/DC converters approved to EN 60601 3RD
Available immediately from MicroPower Direct, the MA600MRWRI5 series is a family of compact, 6W DC/DC converters fully approved to EN 60601 3RD edition. They are specifically designed to meet the stringent isolation, reinforced insulation and low leakage requirements of medical grade equipment.
Strategic TerraE project joins EU Battery Alliance
A number of discussions on various industrial aspects were held in Brussels on 22nd and 23rd February 2018, on the occasion of the 'EU Industry Day' under the umbrella of the European Commission. For TerraE Holding, CEO Mr. Holger Gritzka, participated in a discussion on the future of battery production in Europe, together with Commission Vice-President for the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič.
