Receiver & controller reference design targets LEDs
Zilog, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IXYS, has announced the release of its DMX Reference Design Kit, which includes a DMX512-A receiver featuring the Z51F0811 MCU and a DMX512-A controller featuring the Z51F3220 MCU.
Add on modules extend design tools effectiveness
RS Components has extended the functionality of its DesignSpark Mechanical with two new optional premium modules. The first premium module available is DesignSpark Mechanical Exchange, which adds advanced import/export capabilities and enables the import, modification and export of industry-standard STEP and IGES file formats, which allows full exchange of design data with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Catia, ProEngineer and AutoCAD.
Cadence collaborates with TSMC on IoT subsystem
Cadence Design Systems has announced that it is collaborating with TSMC on the development of an IoT IP subsystem demonstration platform for TSMC’s Ultra-Low Power (ULP) process. Targeting wearable, home automation, always-on and industrial control applications, this IP subsystem, with the support of the Cadence suite of digital and custom/analogue tools, provides the opportunity to simplify IoT designs and accelerate the time-to-market for...
Interface enables sharing between different CAD programmes
When developing large, complex products such as cars or aeroplanes, designers may need to use numerous CAD systems in-house, on a single task. Whilst this design process may be an efficient way to manufacture these types of products, it can cause problems when the CAD data needs to be exchanged by those involved in the design process who may not be using the same CAD software.
Workflow for 3D full-wave chip package board modelling
Computer Simulation Technology has demonstrated an innovative workflow that combines the full wave simulation and extraction capabilities of CST STUDIO SUITE with the accuracy of Synopsys HSPICE at booth #2827 during DAC 2015. Engineers concerned with the design of modern electronic systems can take advantage of this new workflow.
Place & route software boosts throughput tenfold
Synopsys has announced the 2015.06 release of its IC Compiler II place and route solution. Launched last year, IC Compiler II has seen steadily increasing customer numbers and levels of design activity across all nodes. Today, with active usage across more than 30 customers, IC Compiler II is rapidly transforming the world of physical design with its game-changing productivity and superior Quality of Results (QoR).
SSD software enhances burst performance by up to 10 times
Crucial has announced significant updates to its Storage Executive tool. The 3.20 version features Momentum Cache, an intelligent caching feature that can enhance burst performance by up to 10 times and allows users to extend SSD lifetime by reducing redundant writes. The tool uses idle memory for caching as needed, and can be installed easily via the Storage Executive interface.
Designs enable the rapid development of wireless soundbars
Three wireless soundbar platform example designs which offer manufacturers complete solutions designed to rapidly bring entry-level, mid-range and high-end soundbars to market have been introduced by CSR.
Reference design kits target Bluetooth Smart applications
Two Reference Design Kits (RDKs) designed for Bluetooth Smart applications have been introduced by Cypress Semiconductor. Based on the company’s PRoC BLE programmable radio-on-chip, the CY5672 PRoC BLE remote control RDK and the CY5682 PRoC BLE touch mouse RDK provide feature-rich, production-ready implementations with prolonged battery life.
