RTOSes support All Programmable Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC
Micrium has announced commercial RTOS support for Xilinx’ all programmable Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC. Micrium’s µC/OS-II and µC/OS-III kernels, as well as its full suite of RTOS components, run on the ARM Cortex A53 and Cortex R5 CPUs as well as the Xilinx MicroBlaze FPGA-based soft processor core, enabling customers to select a single OS for all their embedded software needs on the chip.
Diagnostic kit aids installation of encoder systems
Renishaw's TONiC linear and rotary encoder systems feature integral set-up LEDs that are usually sufficient for installation purposes, giving a visual indication of the signal level and calibration status. Those customers with the most challenging set-up requirements are now supported by an optional PC software package for use in conjunction with a diagnostic hardware kit.
RTL platform enables accurate power use analysis
Cadence Design Systems has announced the Cadence Joules Register-Transfer Level (RTL) Power Solution. This RTL power analysis solution enables SoC design teams to analyse power consumption accurately during design exploration. Built on a multi-threaded architecture, the Joules RTL Power Solution delivers 20 times faster time-based RTL power analysis when compared to other methods.
NI Week: System design software speeds code writing
Faster development time and more debugging tools feature in the LabVIEW 2015 system design software announced by National Instruments at its annual NIWeek exhibition and conference in Austin, Texas. The aim, as ever, is to help standardise the way LabVIEW users interact with almost any hardware through the reuse of the same code and engineering processes across systems, saving time and money as technology advances, requirements evolve, and time-t...
Realtek accelerates SoC verification with the Palladium XP platform
Cadence Design Systems has announced that Realtek Semiconductor has utilised the Cadence Palladium XP platform to accelerate the successful development and verification of a recent SoC design. With the Palladium XP platform, Realtek achieved up to 250 times faster acceleration versus its previous methodology and was able to improve quality by executing system simulations six months before the silicon was available.
Chipset enables fast charge protocol for mobile devices
Dialog Semiconductor has announced that Huawei’s new Honor 7 smartphones use its iW630+iW1780+iW671 Rapid Charge adapter chipset to enable Huawei’s Fast Charger Protocol (FCP). FCP is a proprietary protocol from Huawei, designed to charge smartphones and other mobile devices significantly faster than conventional USB charging technology. Dialog’s iW630+iW1780+iW671 chipset provides very high efficiency and high power density nee...
The industry's first USB 3.1 interoperability demonstration
Synopsys has announced the successful interoperability demonstration of Synopsys' DesignWare USB 3.1 device controller IP with ASMedia's USB-IF certified USB 3.1 host controller IC. Proven interoperability between the two companies' products demonstrates that the DesignWare USB 3.1 IP works as defined by the USB 3.1 specification and reduces design risk of integrating the USB 3.1 IP into applications requiring 10Gb/s data transfers.
Coding platform opens new route to wireless design
The Digi XBee / Arduino-Compatible Coding Platform is now available exclusively from distributor Digi-Key for $99. The platform, developed by Digi International, provides a comprehensive resource for developers to learn about the XBee API and other key features that enable reliable wireless communications for many real-world applications, such as, working control systems and sensing networks.
IP management solution is 30 times faster than predecessor
ClioSoft has released version 7.0 of its SOS design data and enterprise IP management platform. SOS7 builds on the 18-year success of the EDA industry’s most widely-installed design data and enterprise IP management solution for analogue, RF, digital and mixed-signal designs.
TESSY V3.2.7 qualification renewed
TESSY, the tool for automated unit/module/integration testing of embedded software, was again qualified for safety-related software development according to IEC 61508:2010 and ISO 26262:2011. The qualification was done by the TÜV SÜD and is valid since version V3.2.7 of TESSY.
