SST communication modules for harsh-duty operation
Expanding the company's line of SST communication modules, Molex' CLXT modules are designed for use with Rockwell ControlLogix XT PLCs. The modules perform reliably in oil and gas plants, oil drilling rigs, wastewater treatment sites, steel mills, automotive manufacturing plants and other industrial sites where the presence of caustic or corrosive chemicals can threaten the integrity and performance of sensitive electronics.
The perfect partnership
The demands from embedded system developers means segmentation still prevails at a hardware and software level. But recent developments in Computer-on-Module platforms point towards a more unified future. By Jochen Dieckfoß, Embedded software expert and Windows Embedded MVP, Adeneo, and Klaus Seufzger, Software Developer, congatec.
21.5" touchscreen panel PC for medical applications
Certified to the third edition of EN 60601-1, the WMP-227V is a 21.5" touchscreen panel PC. BVM have developed the computer specifically for use in medical applications such as in the diagnosis, treatment, or monitoring of a patient. The fanless PC features an anti-bacterial IP65 sealed wipe-clean housing and all cable connectors are covered by a smooth fitted panel.
SMARC COM SBC suits HMI, medical and industrial applications
Powered by the Freescale ARM Cortex-A9 i.MX6 dual core high performance processor, the ROM-5420 is an RISC smart mobility architecture (SMARC) SBC supporting camera and battery power inputs of 3-5.25V that suit portable device development. Advantech's latest SBC is suitable for applications such as HMI systems, gaming and infotainment, industrial tablets, medical devices and instrumentation.
Devices' occupy 70% smaller footprint than FPGAs
Designed to allow designers to reduce the number of gigabit serial links required for a range of end equipment, TI's pair of 10-Gbps serial link aggregator ICs are claimed to be an industry first. The TLK10081 1- to 8-channel and TLK10022 dual-channel ICs aggregate and de-aggregate point-to-point serial data streams for transmission over backplanes, copper cables and optical links.
ATP provides GENIVI compliant solution for Automotive Tier One suppliers
Designed for Linux based IVI system development, Mentor Graphics has announced the latest version of their GENIVI 5.0 compliant Automotive Technology Platform (ATP).
SSD line-up claims industry's first 1TB mSATA SSD
Featuring what is being claimed as the industry's first 1TB mSATA SSD, Samsung's 840 EVO mSATA SSD line-up signals an expansion of the 840 EVO line-up which was introduced in July. The SSD features the mSATA form factor, which is approximately a quarter size of a 2.5-inch SSD, and offers the same level of high density and high performance.
Platform enables launch of M2M services for IoT
Specifically designed for the Internet of Things, NeulNET is a two-way, wide-area networking device from Neul. Based on the Weightless open standard, the system provides coverage, battery life, module cost and simplicity of operation which far out-reaches today’s GPRS, 3G, CDMA and LTE WAN systems.
Programmable solenoid controller reduces emissions
Helping automakers comply with recent worldwide government regulations for improved fuel efficiency and new emissions standards, Freescale Semiconductor announce the MC33816 programmable solenoid controller. Designed to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency for petrol and diesel direct fuel injection engines, the controller also suits driving dual clutch transmissions and precision solenoids in factory automation applications.
Embedded dual-band GSM antenna design
This application note illustrates how CST MICROWAVE STUDIO (CST MWS), Antenna Magus and Optenni Lab can be used in combination to improve an existing GSM tracking device application. The requirement was to replace an existing “off-the-shelf” antenna on a GSM tracking device with an embedded, integrated antenna in order to reduce manufacturing and component costs.
