Panel PC is suitable for marine and chemical applications
A touch panel PC with IP65-certified front panel protection has been released by DFI. The KS230-CD, which has an Intel Atom N2800/N2600 processor with speed up to 1.86GHz, is protected from dust and water. This makes the panel suitable for applications within industries where hygiene is a priority, including food and beverage, medical, marine and chemical.
Bluetooth low energy stack gets upgrade
Rutronik is presenting the S110 SoftDevice v7.0, the next major release of Nordic Semiconductor’s Bluetooth low energy stack for the nRF51822 Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and 2.4GHz proprietary System-on-Chip (SoC) and the nRF51422 ANT and ANT/Bluetooth low energy multiprotocol SoCs. It enables simple, secure and reliable field updates of both stack and application and makes it easier to design ULP wireless products.
The three flavours of Bluetooth
Initial impressions of being over-complicated and perhaps unreliable meant Bluetooth got off to a slow start back in the early 2000s. Now, it enables an increasing number of connected devices, but which version is right for your application? By Karl Torvmark, Head of Strategic Marketing, Wireless Connectivity Solutions, Texas Instruments.
EMEA-wide certification program ensures networks are reliable
An EMEA-wide certification program to ensure that customers' industrial networks are reliable, adaptable and able to support growing control and information needs has been introduced by Belden. The company will not only offer managers a fully Certified Industrial Network Program to support and guide the process, but also warranties and customer support.
Antennas specifically target industrial applications
The availability of a range of antennas from HUBER+SUHNER has been announced by Lane Electronics. Designed specifically to overcome the harsh environments found in industrial applications, the antennas can be installed directly on cabinets or access points, omnidirectional or directional antennas for installations mounted away from the access point, vehicle antennas and units for installation on the building wall or mast.
Splitter's 24dB power input suits demanding applications
A 2-way, 90° power splitter has been introduced by MACOM. The MAPD-011018 has a maximum power input of 24dB, making it suitable for demanding applications such as CATV, Broadband and FTTx. Being both 260ºC re-flow compatible and surface mountable, the power splitter is easy to use. The spiltter operates from 5-250MHz but performs best between 5-85MHz, with a phase balance of 90° +/- three degrees.
Intel 8251A USART re-introduced by Rochester Electronics
Rochester has been authorised to continue manufacturing and stocking Intel’s 8251A Programmable Communication Interface. The industry standard Universal Synchronous / Asynchronous Receiver / Transmitter (USART) is designed for operation with an extended range of Intel microprocessors with compatibility to the 8251.
UHF antenna is industry's smallest, claims Laird
The patent pending Ultra Phantom low profile vertical antennas have been introduced by Laird Technologies. The manufacturer has claimed that the devices is the industry’s smallest high-performance omnidirectional low profile UHF antenna designed for use in government, public safety and industrial/commercial market segments.
Fanless embedded system targets AOI and automation
A fanless embedded system claimed to be reliable, with an operating temperature range from -20 to +70°C, has been launched by Axiomtek. The eBOX660-872-FL-DH has socket G2 for Intel Core and Intel Celeron processors. It supports dual 2.5” HDD drive bays, eight USB ports, four COM ports, dual PCIe mini card, two SIM slots, isolated DIO ports and VGA and DisplayPort with dual-view display.
Frequency system supports latest NTP features
Responding to the recent expansion and availability of global navigation systems and related infrastructure, Aspen Electronics have introduced the SecureSync time & frequency reference system. Incorporating Spectracom’s precision master clock technology and secure network-centric approach, the modular, rugged chassis design has built-in time and frequency functions which can be extended with up to 6 input/output modules.
