HEVC-enabled STB SoCs are Cisco VideoGuard certified
The Cisco VideoGuard security certification for Pay-TV has been awarded to Broadcom for it's set-top box (STB) HEVC 4K HD SoCs. With the HEVC-enabled devices, operators can reduce the bandwidth required for Ultra HD or traditional HD content transmission over IP, cable or satellite networks and deliver these services to more locations throughout the home.
Connector improves PCB retention force via reflow method
Employing a pin-in-hole intrusive reflow method, the GT32 Series high-speed connector improves PCB retention force and enables a one-time reflow process with other SMT components. The connector, from Hirose, combines the reflow method with a positive locking structure that prevents partial locking, incomplete engagement and accidental disengagement. These features enable the connector to satisfiy demanding automotive specifications.

Ultra HD SoC delivers 4Kp60 resolution to TiVo STB
Broadcom has revealed that TiVo has selected the BCM7445 Ultra HD SoC for its Ultra HD set-top box technology. The two companies will demonstrate how the Ultra HD set-top box technology can deliver four times the resolution of traditional 1080p60 HD displays in booth 2.C25 at IBC, 12th to 16th September, RAI Amsterdam.
RF4CE solutions support ZigBee Remote Control 2.0
Texas Instruments has revealed that its ZigBee RF4CE hardware and software solutions support the ZigBee Remote Control 2.0 standard, released by the ZigBee Alliance. The SimpleLink RF4CE CC2533, CC2530 and CC2531 wireless MCUs support the new standard through TI’s RemoTI software to enable fast development of new remote controls.
