Wireless MCU supports ZigBee Remote Control 2.0
NXP's ultra-low-power wireless MCU family, JN516x, has been awarded the Golden Unit status for the recently announced ZigBee Remote Control 2.0 standard. The company also provides software for the ZigBee Remote Control 2.0 standard and an optimised remote control with one layer board reference design to support design-in customers.
Rugged touch panel PC features an IPX1-compliant chassis
Featuring the Intel Celeron J1900 quad-core processor, the GOT5153W-834 WXGA TFT LCD touch panel computer has been released by Axiomtek. The fanless,15.6” PC has a thickness of 59mm, making it suitable for space-constrained environments. Ensuring reliable operation in harsh environments, the computer features an IPX1-compliant chassis and IP65-rated spill and dust resistant front panel.
'Industry's first' 4-level Pulse Amplitude Modulation PHYs
High speed 4-level Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM-4) PHYs, claimed to be the industry’s first, have been released by Broadcom. The BCM82040 and BCM82004 enable transmission rates of 40/50Gb/s serially over multiple physical media, including direct attach cables (DAC) and optical fibre. The devices have been designed to meet the demand for higher speed and more bandwidth, optimising 40/100GbE connectivity.
Rugged SBC features 3rd gen Intel Core i7-3517UE processor
A low-power processor extension to the ADLQM67PC PCIe/104 SBC has been released by ADL Embedded Solutions. Alongside a QM67 PCH chipset, the ADLQM67PC-3517UE features a 17W 3rd gen Intel Core i7-3517UE processor. As well as the memory controller functions of a traditional GMCH, the 3rd gen Intel Core i7 processor integrates Intel’s HD Graphics 4000 engine with AVX2.
Interface your HDD & storage system backplane
Allowing the HDD to interface with the backplane in enterprise storage systems, the 12G Single Connect Attachment-2 (SCA-2) connector system has been introduced by FCI. Improved impedance, insertion and return loss, and crosstalk is enabled by the system’s connector design and its PCB footprint, making it operational for 4, 8 and 12G applications. The SCA-2 receptacle connector is also footprint compatible with existing applications.
6TB SATA and SAS HDDs spin at 7,200RPM
The MG04ACA and MG04SCA 6TB SATA and SAS models have been released by Toshiba Electronics Europe, expanding its MG04 series of 3.52" HDDs. For seamless integration with latest-gen data centre infrastructure, the SAS interface HDD provides 12Gbit/s transfer rates and enhanced power management features. The MG04 series is specifically designed for midline and nearline business critical workloads.
COM Express Compact module suits intelligent systems
The company's first Compact module powered by AMD Embedded G-series SoC, DFI has announced a Type 6 COM Express Compact module. The SE967 is suited for intelligent systems that display videos, graphics and interactive content such as gaming machines, medical equipment, security & surveillance, smart grid, ATM and POS.
MicroTCA selected for airborne RADAR application
A military prime contractor in the USA has chosen VadaTech's MicroTCA for its airborne RADAR application. The system combines the functionality of ADC & DAC, data processing and storage in two rugged 1U rackmount systems. Both the 'transceiver' system and the 'storage' system utilise the same rugged chassis, but with vastly different payloads.
Modules integrate wireless connectivity into portable devices
The Laird BT900 dual mode Classic and BLE modules are designed to provide standard short-range wireless connectivity for powered portable devices including ePOS terminals, barcode scanners and equipment used within the health sector. Measuring just 19mm x 12.5mm x 2.5mm, the new modules, available from Alpha Micro Components. come complete with an embedded BTv4.0 stack with smartBASIC, offering Central and Peripheral modes.
8-bit MPU enabled by thin-film electronics
A general-purpose 8-bit MPU, manufactured using complementary TFTs processed at temperatures compatible with plastic foil substrates (250°C), has been realised by Holst Centre, imec and their partner, Evonik. The CMOS MPU circuit, which operates at a clock frequency 2.1kHz, integrates metal-oxide for n-type TFTs and organic molecules for p-type TFTs. The results were published online in 'Scientific Reports', an open access journal from the pu...
