A new integrated power stage family from Infineon Technologies features a power efficiency rating reaching 96%. This means the power stage devices can be combined with Infineon’s generation digital PWM power management controllers. This provides a full multi-phase voltage regulation (VR) system solution for server, storage client and communications systems.

The integrated power stage reduces power loss and simplifies design of VR solutions for multi-core processors, ASICs and FPGAs where efficient power management is critical. Maximum current rating of 70A in a small 5mm x 6mm PQFN SMD package supports phase reduction in multi-phase systems. The integrated power stage family also offers smart self-protection with both over current and over voltage protection, accurate temperature and current information to the customer’s system.

“Infineon has greatly expanded its portfolio of power management technologies recently,” said Richard Kuncic, Vice President and General Manager of Infineon’s Business Line DCDC. “The integrated power stage combines further increases in energy efficiency with power density for enterprise power applications.”

Infineon’s new integrated power stage family comes in 50A through 70A current ratings, and offers different efficiency levels to match design requirements.
