A VCO which operates at 1000MHz, within a tuning voltage range of 1.5-3.5VDC, has been announced by Z-Communications. The high performance model ZRO1000A-LF features a remarkably clean spectral signal of -129dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset and a typical tuning sensitivity of 2MHz/V.

Designed to deliver +7dBm of output power into a 50Ω load while operating off a 8VDC supply, the ZRO1000A-LF typically draws 25mA of current. This unmatched VCO operates over the extended commercial temperature range of -40 to +85°C and features typical second harmonic suppression of -18dBc.

The ZRO1000A-LF comes in Z-Comm's standard ZMX-14-SM package measuring 0.75x0.75x0.22", and is available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements, optimising it for automated surface mount assembly and reflow.

The RoHS-compliant ZRO1000A-LF suits test instrumentation applications which require an extremely low phase noise clock source.
