ST showcases STB SoCs for next-gen digital TV
Demonstrating its latest STB SoCs, STMicroelectronics has revealed that it will exhibit at CommunicAsia 2015, 2nd to 5th June 2015 in Singapore. The devices are designed to enable cable, satellite, IPTV and terrestrial operators to deliver market-leading capabilities for next-generation products.
The proliferation of digital content and services has prompted ASEAN governments to mandate transitions to digital TV before 2020. At the same time TV manufacturers are actively promoting the UHD experience. ST covers the full range of digital-home applications, including HD hybrid broadcast/broadband zapper and PVR boxes and UHD home-media servers and gateways, to meet the demands of this on-going transition in South Asia. ST solutions greatly improve the level of end-user experience when accessing linear and on-demand Pay TV services, as well as satisfy surging consumer demand for high-speed data services such as UHD, multi-screen video streaming, gaming, file sharing and home security.
At CommunicAsia 2015, ST will showcase a large number of demos including multi-decode, multi-screen UHD on the STiH418 SoC which enables satellite, cable and IPTV PayTV operators to offer premium content to users with cost-efficient solutions that support content consumption anywhere. Other demonstrations include advanced HTML5 solutions running on ST’s Cannes family (STiH301 and STiH310) including an advanced application store based on Opera’s latest Blink browser that allows consumers to access advanced and appealing applications on TV.
These demos, and more, will be on show at the ST Hospitality Suite at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center during at CommunicAsia 2015.
