PRQA Programming Research has announced further enhancements and additions to its Framework environment and its QA·Verify code management web interface. These latest releases strengthen PRQA’s complete code management solution, making inspection and compliance more effective, improving integration and giving greater visibility to stakeholders within the decision-making process.
IDE & RTOS are suitable for Cortus software development
Blunk’s CrossStep IDE and TargetOS RTOS are now available for Cortus’ APS processor cores. The CrossStep is an Eclipse alternative for embedded developers that includes a high-level source debugger GUI, a project manager/builder and integrated kernel awareness. The IDE supports JTAG debug interfaces, as well as debug-over-Ethernet connections via Blunk’s advanced debug monitor. The device is an IDE that uses the GNU gcc and gdb.
Release provides guidelines for designing ARM & x86-based COMs
The Standardisation Group for Embedded Technologies (SGET) has successfully finalised Version 2.0 of the Qseven Design Guide, Guidelines for designing Qseven carrier boards. Reference examples from the actual Qseven V2.0 Reference Carrier Board ensure a clear understanding of the subject, and added features include support for USB 3.0 SuperSpeed and embedded DisplayPort.
Collaboration platform supports engineers & enterprises
Designed for enterprises building modern software products, IoT devices and digital media, the Helix SCM and content collaboration platform has been introduced by Perforce Software. The platform provides enterprises with distributed workflows, Git management, advanced threat detection and new deployment options.
Software collaboration allows always-on sensing
Synopsys and Hillcrest Labs have announced that Hillcrest's Freespace MotionEngine software is now optimised to run on Synopsys' DesignWare Sensor and Control IP Subsystem. Hillcrest's MotionEngine software transforms sensor data into high quality, contextual information that powers sensor-enabled features on a wide range of devices.
ARM Compiler enhances cellular module IDE
ARM Compiler has been added as an optional addition to Telit's AppZone, the IDE for its popular GE910, HE910, UE910, UE866 and UL865 cellular modules. Telit can now offer the ARM Compiler as an option for optimal performance and size management. For professional grade, real-time functionality, the option enables users to take full advantage of the module’s embedded processing capabilities.
Development ecosystem enables inspiring designs
Alongside technology partner FTDI Chip, MikroElektronika has released a complete ecosystem of development products to support the FT90X series of 32-bit application-optimised MCUs. MikroElektronika says that through these products, which incorporate both hardware and software elements, engineers will be able to harness the potential of FT90X MCU devices to make more inspiring embedded system designs.
Voice control software consumes less than 1μW of power
Synopsys and Sensory have announced the availability of an optimised port of Sensory's TrulyHandsfree voice control software for the Synopsys DesignWare ARC EM DSP processor family. In typical 28nm process technologies, the ARC EM5D processor consumes less than 1μW of power executing TrulyHandsfree low-power sound detection software, and less than 40μW operating in speech recognition mode. The combination of Sensory's highly optimised voice...
HMI PCs offer flexible sizing & reduced power consumption
Expanding its HMI portfolio, APLEX has announced the ARCHMI-8xx(P) series, based on the Intel Atom E3800 Bay Trail, to address industrial-grade user demand for outstanding computing performance and high resolution graphics. The series, suitable for automation applications, significantly reduces power consumption while operating and offers LCD sizes from 7 to 21.5”.
Reference design enables future smartwatches
Toshiba has launched a smartwatch reference design, with enhanced sport, activity and lifestyle features. Built around the TZ1001MBG ApP Lite application processor, it provides developers with a starting point for designing future smartwatches for sport watch applications.
