Renesas will introduce a wide line up of next-gen solution kits to accelerate customer design success through rich software functionality and added-value services on Renesas hardware platforms. Right out of the box, the solutions support designs in motor control, functional safety, industrial Ethernet, PROFINET IRT, I0-Link, reconfigurable sensors, PLC, wireless M-bus, 3-phase smart metering and next-gen HMI.

Renesas and its Alliance Partner, port, have announced efficient multi-protocol connectivity solutions and the associated design tools for the RX64M MCUs. The PROFINET (CCA / CCB RT1), Ethernet/IP and CANopen software stacks have been ported to the 32-bit high-performance MCU group.

Support for the Renesas R-Car M2 and Renesas R-Car H2 SoCs is now available from Cinemo. Enabling video hardware acceleration with extremely low CPU loads, Cinemo’s multimedia platform utilises the R-Car M2 and H2 architecture for Blu-Ray and Full HD video playback, streaming, ultra-fast media management, connectivity, and full Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE).

Expanding the 31 devices in its RX111 Group of 32-bit MCUs, Renesas has introduced versions with larger memory capacities for applications including healthcare devices, industrial equipment and building automation systems. The 15 enhanced MCUs offer flash memory capacity to 512KB and RAM capacity to 64KB.

Expanding the company's safety and efficiency support for home appliances and tools, Renesas has introduced the RL78/G1G group of MCUs. The MCUs enable power-efficient performance with shorter development time and up to 40% lower system costs for appliances such as advanced electric fans, electric tools, food processors, and other applications requiring fine motor control.

Renesas has announced plans to establish the R-IN Consortium, aiming to support the development of industrial equipment incorporating industrial Internet communication functionality, including manufacturing equipment, security cameras and robots. The consortium is seeking corporate partners willing to supply software, OSes, development environments and system integration services. Official activities will commence in April 2015.
