The Euro-Top X3 HI cable gland first attracted attention at the end of last year at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg, the international trade fair for electrical automation, systems and components. This product from RST Rabe-System-Technik und Vertriebs is the first Ex screw connection made from polyamide approved according to EN 60079-0:2012 for all sizes (M12 to M63), including the 7J impact resistance test.

This makes the Euro-Top X3 HI the first solution to be approved for use in Ex e and Ex i rated areas (mechanical and plant engineering, petrochemical industry and mining, motor and drive technology) for which you can dispense with protection against mechanical hazards, which is usually necessary.

With this cable gland RST has closed the gap that was created by the more stringent test requirements for high-quality ex cable glands in force since 2009. The cable simply does more: in addition to its increased impact resistance, it is temperature resistant from -40 to +70°C. With a silicone sealant this range can even be extended to -60°C.

Its other features include protection ratings IP66 and IP68, the ability to clamp cables with a diameter from 4 to 44 mm and approvals according to ATEX, IECEx and EAC (GOST/TC RU). INMETRO approval is also in preparation.
