Perseverance rover reaches Mars with RTEMS

After years of preliminary work by NASA and a traversed flight distance of 292 million miles, the Perseverance rover successfully landed on Mars on 18th February 2021. One of the main goals of the Mars mission is to search for signs of primeval microbial life. The rover will analyse the geology of the planet and the climate of earlier times, and will be the first mission to collect and store Martian rocks and regolith (broken rocks and dust).

Renesas Electronics has announced that its radiation-hardened (rad-hard) integrated circuits (ICs) were onboard the Hayabusa2 spacecraft that returned asteroid samples to Earth in an armored re-entry capsule on 6th December, 2020. Operated by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Hayabusa2 launched onboard the H-IIA rocket from the Tanegashima Space Center on December 3, 2014.

Arnold Defense, the St. Louis-based manufacturer of 2.75" rocket launchers, has teamed with MSI Defense Solutions, the North Carolina-based defense company to deliver integration solutions for Arnold’s unique FLETCHER land based, laser guided rocket launcher system. The FLETCHER precision guided 2.75"/70mm weapon system was first unveiled in 2017 at DSEi in London with several recent contracts being announced in October 2020.
