DC/DC converters feature wide output adjustment ranges
TDK Corporation has announced the introduction of the 100W i3A series of non-isolated DC/DC converters, packaged in the industry standard 1/32nd brick form factor. These step-down converters are capable of adjustment from either 3.3 to 16.5V or 5 to 30V output and accept an input voltage of 9 to 53V.
Simplify your simulated GaN designs with LTSpice model
Prior to building hardware, power system design engineers want to be fast, accurate and confident with their simulated designs. Achieving these goals with GaN designs has become easier with GaN Systems’ new set of LTSpice models. Increasing efficiency and power density requires proper layout and understanding of the characteristics of these fast transistors.
DC/DC converters for next-gen SiC MOSFETs
The main challenges of driving SiC MOSFETs include high-frequency and high-voltage switching. Extreme voltage potentials between the control and power side can wear down isolation barriers and lead to failures. To meet these tough requirements, RECOM has recently introduced a new 2W DC/DC converter series specially designed to power the latest generation of SiC MOSFETs. Switching SiC MOSFETs requires turn-on and turn-off voltages atypic...
Multi-year licensing agreement for EnSilica’s low power processor
Provider of semiconductor solutions and IP, EnSilica and Solomon Systech, a provider of touch and display ICs and system solutions, have entered into a multi-year licensing agreement for EnSilica’s range of highly configurable, high performance, and low power eSi-RISC processor IP.
Struggling to select the correct wireless power coils?
Manufacturer of wireless power charging coils, Würth Elektronik eiSos, has placed a tool at developers’ disposal which facilitates selection of the appropriate transmitter and receiver coils. Mix and Match is a free-of-charge offering from Würth Elektronik eiSos. As with REDEXPERT – supposedly the world’s most precise AC loss calculator for power chokes – the product specifications accessible for M...
Rugged power supplies are rated to IP67 and NEMA 4X
Powersolve has just announced the TEX 120 series of industrial power supplies designed for a wide variety of applications in harsh environments. Providing a maximum output of 120W, the unit’s rugged die-cast aluminium housing is water, oil, ice and dust resistant and is approved to IP67 and NEMA 4X requirements. An International safety approval package also includes CB scheme as well as ATEX and IECEx.
Power limiter delivers reliable, repeatable protection
Availability and full design support capabilities for a power limiter from Peregrine Semiconductor have been announced by Richardson RFPD. The UltraCMOS PE45361 builds on the success of Peregrine's 50-watt UltraCMOS power limiters and adds higher pulsed power handling, a lower limiting threshold and positive threshold control.
Mixer supports DC to 6GHz IF & 0dBm LO Drive
Analog Devices, which recently acquired Linear Technology, has announced the LTC5552, a double balanced mixer that features best-in-class wideband matching from 3GHz to 20GHz. The mixer can be used as an up- or downconverter. The LTC5552 is especially useful in upconversion applications with its DC capable differential IF port that enables the LO to be close in frequency to the RF. Its low LO to RF leakage of less than –25dBm greatly eases ...
DC/DC converters drive capacitive loads up to 2200µF
At only 5.5mm high, the latest RECOM R1SX 1W unregulated DC/DC converters, available now at Dengrove Electronic Components, are 20% slimmer than alternative converters, and are packaged as compact, 12.75mm x 10.8mm, surface-mount, open-frame modules. In addition to satisfying EN 55022/024 and IEC/UL/EN 60950-1, the modules are certified to the incoming IEC/UL/EN 62368-1 safety specification.
How to achieve effective thermal management for EV batteries
With the growing demand for battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), dissipating battery heat and providing protection against electrical interference have never been more pertinent. According to the ‘European Vehicle Market Statistics Pocketbook 2016/17’, which is published annually by the International Council of Clean Transportation (ICCT), electric vehicles already comprise 1.5% of all new ...
