Power path manager features digital I2C telemetry
Analog Devices has announced a highly integrated, high voltage multi-chemistry synchronous monolithic step-down battery charger and PowerPath manager with onboard telemetry functions and optional Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The LTC4162 efficiently transfers power from a variety of input sources, such as wall adapters, backplanes and solar panels, to charge a Li-Ion/Polymer, LiFePO4 or lead-acid battery stack and provide po...
Compact power entry module features additional ground choke
SCHURTER has extended its power entry module series DD12 with new flange variants for screw and snap mounting. New versions are also available with additional ground choke for suppressing high frequency interference on the ground conductor. The DD12 with fuse holder, switch and filter offers remarkable functionality in a very compact housing.
500W family added to dual certified medical grade series
The XLM500 Family from N2Power is dual certified with the latest versions of UL69050 & UL60601 certificates for use in both information technology equipment (ITE) and medical equipment. As with the XLM240 family these are available in open frame, U-chassis and a fully enclosed unit with fan incorporated. This design offers robust performance and lower energy usage with efficiencies of 93%.
DC/DC converters designed to withstand moisture and dust
Ideal Power has announced the availability of the new MQB DC/DC converter series designed and developed by PowerGood (PG). Designed with MIL-STD-810 in mind, the new series has been developed to withstand moisture, dust and severe vibration; providing continuous performance in the most extreme conditions.
Lithium-ion batteries: benefits, risks and regulation
Lithium-ion batteries offer much to manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment – not overly heavy or bulky, they have long service lives and low self-discharge rates – but they also pose risks to manufacturers, both in terms of safety and reliability and in potential regulatory non-compliance. Dr Alex Martin and Nick Aitken of the global technical consultancy and testing, inspection and certification business RINA consider t...
DC/DC rail converters feature wide range of voltage inputs
LÜTZE Transportation has launched two new DC/DC converters with 15 and 36W plus wide range voltage input, whose output voltage can be set between 5, 12, 15 and 24V using the DIP switches.
50A µModule regulator scalable to 250A runs cool
It has been announced by Analog Devices that they are releasing the Power by Linear LTM4678 dual 25A or single 50A step down µModule regulator, with PMBus digital interface. By stacking and exposing its two inductors on top of BGA package, the LTM4678 uses the inductors as heat sinks to transfer heat from inside, keeping the device cool.
Medical power supplies deliver 75W in an 85°C ambient
TDK has announced the introduction of the 100W rated TDK-Lambda brand CUS100ME series of medical and industrial AC/DC power supplies. The series delivers 75W in ambient temperatures of up to 85°C with just 1m/s airflow, however, with conduction cooling, it can provide full power at up to 70°C. Target markets include home healthcare, medical, dental, test and measurement, broadcast and industrial equipment.
AC/DC converters consume minimal power in standby mode
The 15W and 20W AC/DC power supplies from RECOM are designed for low power IoT and household applications. They are available at rutronik24.com. Based on the footprint of the compact RAC10-K modules, these new modules feature high-efficiency over a wide load range and minimal standby power consumption.
Smart meter requirements for business energy savings
UK industrial electricity prices are among the highest in Europe and, in light of this, a number of businesses are taking direct action to reduce their energy consumption. Power quality specialist, REO UK, has published a SlideShare on LinkedIn, which outlines three tips for businesses looking to reduce their energy costs.
