Achieving rapid evaluation of high-end industrial applications
Renesas Electronics Europe and emtrion have announced the availability of the new emCON-RZ/G1E System-On-Module (SOM) board. The new board is designed for the quick and easy evaluation and production of high-end industrial applications using RZ/G Series of microprocessors (MPUs) from Renesas.
ARM Cortex-R8 Processor meets the 5G 'need for speed'
Enabling chip designers to double the performance of ARM-based modem and mass storage device SoCs, the Cortex-R8 processor has been unveiled by ARM. The company's latest latest real-time CPU offers the low latency, high performance and power efficiency demanded by future 5G modems and mass storage devices.
Renesas expands embedded MCU software platform for IoT
Renesas Electronics has announced the expansion of its Renesas Synergy Platform designed to accelerate time-to-market, reduce total cost of ownership and remove many of the obstacles engineers face when designing devices for the IoT. Expansion includes the launch of the S124 Group of Synergy MCUs with ultra-low power operating characteristics and precise analogue signal acquisition/generation capabilities ideal for sensor applications.
Bringing more efficiency to power conscious devices
The ultra-energy efficient ARM Cortex-M0+ STM32L0 microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics have gone into volume production. The boards include an extensive development ecosystem, including minimal cost boards and free software tools that help developers keep tight control of application power consumption and minimise time to market.
EtherCAT implementation made easy with MCUs
EtherCAT implementation complexity and cost can be reduced with the XMC4300 microcontroller series of Infineon Technologies. Without compromise to EtherCAT communication features, the XMC4300 has been specifically developed for cost-sensitive industrial applications that also make high demands on design flexibility, connectivity and real-time performance.
MCUs deliver energy efficiency in ARM Cortex-M4 Class
STMicroelectronics has taken microcontroller power savings and performance to new heights with its latest STM32L4 series devices. The new microcontrollers also introduce peripheral and package configurations that simplify design and increase flexibility.
Free embedded development on STM32 MCUs
STMicroelectronics has extended opportunities to design free of charge with its popular STM32 microcontrollers for Linux system users including professional engineers, academics and hobbyists. Most Linux distributions are free, and open-source application software makes the Linux world attractive to technology enthusiasts. Until now, however, most development tools for embedded computing have been available only for Windows PCs.
Energy-friendly chip can perform powerful AI tasks
In recent years, some of the most exciting advances in AI have come courtesy of convolutional neural networks, large virtual networks of simple information-processing units, which are loosely modelled on the anatomy of the human brain. Neural networks are typically implemented using GPUs, special-purpose graphics chips found in all computing devices with screens.
28nm IP leadership extended with latest UMC 28HPC POPs
ARM has announced the immediate availability of the ARM Artisan physical IP platform and ARM POP IP for United Microelectronics Corporation’s UMC 28HPCU, an enhanced 28nm process technology. This extends ARM’s 28nm IP leadership, giving the ARM ecosystem the broadest availability for 28nm foundation IP across all of the major foundries.
European MCU car rally set for embedded world 2016
Renesas has announced that the final of its MCU Car Rally competition for university students will take place at embedded world 2016, 23rd to 25th February in Nuremberg, Germany. Teams from universities and technical colleges all over Europe were invited to participate in the competition, which involves developing a functioning model racing car based on electronic components and software from Renesas.
