Barco Silex adds support for the Apple HomeKit
Barco Silex has announced that it has added support for the Apple HomeKit to its Public Key IP core, in the form of Curve25519 and EdDSA. Barco Silex is the first IP provider offering hardware acceleration for these algorithms, which are especially suited to secure IoT applications.
DDR performance analysis tool is ten times quicker than RTL analysis
Synopsys has announced the DesignWare DDR Explorer performance analysis tool, which enables designers to quickly optimise Synopsys' DesignWare Enhanced Universal DDR Memory Controller (uMCTL2) for performance, power and cost. Using DDR Explorer, designers can analyse their DDR memory subsystem and optimise their architecture to increase efficiency by up to 20%, while achieving 10 times faster turnaround time compared to RTL analysis.
MCU family supported by choice of free IDEs
STMicroelectronics says that choosing one of its STM32 MCUs is the easiest way for innovators to bring products to life, now that designers can choose from three IDEs from leading vendors, which are free of charge and deployed in close co-operation with ST. Users can choose between Eclipse-based IDEs such as CooCox CoIDE or Ac6 System Workbench for STM32, and the MDK-ARM environment.
Dev Kit now supports AVB and CAN-FD network peripherals
The Virtualizer Dev Kit (VDK), developed by Synopsys, now supports Ethernet AVB and CAN-FD automotive network peripherals. Designed for Renesas' RH850 MCU family, the VDK is a software development kit that uses RH850 virtual prototypes as a target with software debug and analysis tools.
Development platform features over 100 I/O channels
Offering high computing power and comprehensive functionality, dSPACE has introduced a compact control system development platform for laboratory use, MicroLabBox. According to dSPACE, the platform makes creating, optimising and testing controllers, and implementing data acquisition applications easy and cost-efficient for both industry and academia.
IDE allows speedy configuration of complex systems
Synapticon is to present what it calls a ‘revolution in the development process of embedded systems’ at this year's Embedded World, stand 190, hall 5. The company will show OBLAC 1.0, its first time web‐based development environment for configuring, programming, and maintenance of embedded systems. With OBLAC 1.0, users can edit handy, fast and inexpensive complex development projects and realise virtually at their fingertips.
Certifications for ISO26262 & IEC61508-compliant software
Texas Instruments has announced that its SafeTI functional safety software development process is now certified as suitable for development of ISO-26262 and IEC-61508 compliant software components. TI’s process was assessed by TÜV NORD, an internationally recognised and accredited independent assessor of compliance to quality and safety standards.
Rittal updates thermal calculation software
Rittal’s Therm 6.3 software simplifies the often time-consuming and complicated calculation of enclosure cooling and heating requirements. Simply input the dimensions and position of your panel, the heat loss of the equipment installed, the ambient temperature, your preferred internal temperature and details of the available power supply. Then select a cooling or heating solution specific to your project requirements.
PSU design tool is now accessible as a cloud-based app
A PSU design tool, developed by Power Integrations, is now accessible as a cloud-based app. Previously, designers could only download the PI Expert Suite to a local PC or workstation. The cloud-based app allows designers to access the design tool from any internet browser, ensuring that they are using the most up-to-date version.
Software-design support streamlines safety certification
A software-design support package, which streamlines certification of safety-critical systems featuring STM32 MCUs, has been developed by STMicroelectronics and YOGITECH. Together, the companies provide a set of STM32 safety manuals to assist application design, as well as Software Test Libraries (fRSTL) certified according to the IEC61508:2010 functional-safety standard.
