Simplify SyncE designs for packet switched networks
Microsemi and Marvell have announced a joint reference design for use in G.8262-compliant SyncE applications. The solution was designed, built and tested using Microsemi’s ZL3015x family of SyncE network synchroniser chips along with Marvell’s Alaska 10G/40G Ethernet transceivers.
Verification IP provides support for low power mobile audio design
Synopsys has announced the availability of verification IP for the MIPI Alliance SoundWire 1.0 specification. Synopsys verification IP for MIPI SoundWire is based on a native SystemVerilog UVM architecture to enable IP, subsystem and SoC designers to easily integrate their designs and accelerate verification performance.
APIs reduce the energy consumption of IoT applications
Silicon Labs is collaborating with ARM to define and deliver the first power management APIs for ARM mbed platforms. Adding power management APIs to mbed will bring energy efficiency to standards-based solutions optimised for ultra-low-power, battery-operated connected devices. The APIs will enable the mbed community of more than 100,000 registered developers to optimise their mbed-enabled ARM Cortex-M architecture-based designs for the utmost en...
Reduce data transmission bandwidth in Ultra HD devices
Synopsys and Hardent have announced availability of a compliant and interoperable Display Serial Interface (DSI) solution that helps reduce the data transmission bandwidth in Ultra-High Definition (UHD) mobile devices. By using Hardent's VESA display stream compression Encoder IP, video signals can be compressed and transmitted through Synopsys' DesignWare MIPI DSI Host Controller IP. This enables higher-resolution displays with reduced bandwidth...
Factory execution system enables process standardisation & knowledge sharing
Fujitsu has announced the release of FUJITSU Enterprise Application GLOVIA ENTERPRISE Manufacturing Execution System (MES), for customers in the assembly manufacturing industry. It enables information on the production activities of factories around the world to be co-ordinated among all production locations and the head office to strengthen manufacturing.
FD-SOI heterogeneous design becomes a reality for the IoT
CEA-Leti today announced the launch of its Silicon Impulse IC design competence centre, a comprehensive IC technology platform offering IC design, advanced intellectual property, emulator and test services along with industrial multi-project wafer shuttles. Established to increase the competitiveness of Leti’s industrial partners, the centre provides immediate access to Leti’s and CEA-List’s advanced IC technologies and systems ...
Physical implementation solution provides 10-20% better PPA
A physical implementation solution, which enables SoC developers to deliver designs with outstanding PPA (Power, Performance and Area), has been introduced by Cadence Design Systems. Driven by a massively parallel architecture with breakthrough optimisation technologies, the Innovus Implementation System provides typically 10-20% better PPA and five to ten times full-flow speedup and capacity gain at advanced 16/14/10nm FinFET processes and estab...
Platform enables transition to 3D FinFET-based designs
Synopsys has announced that its Galaxy Design Platform enables 90% of the production tapeouts of FinFET-based designs. The company has also highlighted the use of its Galaxy Design Platform by HiSilicon Technologies, for the implementation of ARM Cortex-A72, Cortex -A57 and Cortex -A53 processor-based FinFET designs targeting TSMC's 16nm process technology.
Smart factory solutions address rising demand
COPA-DATA will present Smart Factory solutions at the 2015 Hannover Messe, in Hall 7, Booth C48. With zenon, the HMI/SCADA and dynamic production reporting software, companies can construct flexible and scalable value networks on-premises, in hybrid environments or in the cloud. A significant part of these flexible value networks are Big Data analyses, carried out in order to uncover and utilise potential in a targeted manner.
Development tool shortens build times for AMR-based devices
IAR Systems has updated its development tools for ARM with new device support and new functionality. Version 7.40 of IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM introduces support for ARM Cortex-M7 MCUs from STMicroelectronics and Atmel. In addition, the tools now feature parallel build for shorter build times, as well as an integration of IAR Systems’ new tool, C-STAT, for powerful static code analysis.
