Phihong has developed a new low-cost, high-efficiency, 5W interchangeable plug adapter series for personal electronics. Designated the PSAC05R Series, the single-output 5V adapters feature interchangeable AC input clips that allow for widespread compatibility. The 5W adapters are compliant with ENERGY STAR® EPS Version 2.0 (Level V) efficiency standards and are ideal for personal electronics applications, including digital cameras, MPEG players, and PDAs.
The PSAC05R series provides personal electronics OEMs with quality, energy-efficient power supplies that, with their interchangeable AC input clips, span the regional differences in outlets, allowing OEMs to purchase and approve a single part in place of many, saving them time, space, and money, said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong.

The PSAC05R Series consists of two 5VDC output adapters, each measuring 2.82? x 1.77? x 1.17? and featuring a 1.5-meter (4´ 11.05?) DC cord. The PSC05R-050(P) terminates with a 2.1mm x 5.5mm barrel output connector and the PSAC05R-050(MB) terminates with a mini-USB output connector. The adapters each weigh 4 ounces and are rated for operation from 0 degrees C to +40 degrees C.

PSAC05R adapters are double-insulated, meet Class B EMI standards, and feature short-circuit, over-voltage, and over-current protection. They also feature low leakage current, a maximum no-load power draw of 0.3W, and an average operating efficiency of greater than 68.2%. Safety approvals and markings include cULus, CE, TUV, C-Tick, and SAA.

The adapters' interchangeable AC input clips enable OEMs to fulfill the power requirements of personal electronics that will be sold in countries with dissimilar power outlets with a single adapter and part number, which significantly reduces OEMs inventory and approval processes. AC input clips, each sold separately, are available for the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia.
