Fairchild Semiconductor has today revealed a new industry best-in-class product obsolescence policy for power and mobile product lines. Under this new obsolescence policy, Fairchild will no longer obsolete any product unless the company is required to stop making the part.

Vijay Ullal, President and Chief Operating Officer of Fairchild, commented: “At Fairchild, listening to our customers through every phase of the design process is a core company value. One of the issues we heard clearly from our customers was that design and production cycles were being negatively affected by our product obsolescence practices. We decided to change our approach once we heard this feedback.”

Complementing the new obsolescence policy, Fairchild is also extending its lifetime supply policy. Under the new policy, if Fairchild is required to stop production of a specific product, the company will offer our customers a new, enhanced lifetime supply policy with a 24-month duration. The enhanced lifetime supply policy gives customers 12 months after notice of discontinuation to place their final order, and an extended 12-month period after the last order to take delivery.

“This 24-month total lifetime supply policy, combined with this new non obsolescence policy is unsurpassed in the industry. As a company, Fairchild is driven by the needs of our customers, and will do what it takes to provide an optimal customer experience. We want our customers to design our parts and solutions in their system in full confidence, knowing we will be there to support them long term,” comments Chris Allexandre, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales.

Both changes are effective immediately.
