Deeper integration for higher efficiency
A 3-in-1 solution that integrates three topologies into one flow1 housing has been released by Vincotech. The flowRPI 1 is designed for welding, charger and SMPS applications rated from 1.5 to 7kW.
The solution combines a rectifier with highly efficient low-voltage drop diodes, a two legs PFC featuring 650V IGBTs and diodes, integrated filtering capacitors and diodes for currrent sensing via an external transformer, and an inverter with H-bridge open emitter topology. A version with a PFC featuring IGBTs with higher current ratings for a wider input voltage range is also available. This is rated for applications with Vin = 110 – 220VAC. These carefully selected components provide the best solution for high-frequency, high-efficiency switching.
The enhanced layout of the flowRPI 1 is more EMC-friendly. With the latest IGBT H5 chip technologies on board, the module delivers fast switching at low conduction and switching losses. Given the option of three power stages in a single module, engineers will find it very easy to design highly compact PCBs. Various power ratings are available in the same flow1 housing with the same pinout, so applications may be scaled up with PCB design remaining intact.
The solution comes in flow1 12mm and 17mm housings. Press-fit pins and phase-change material are available on request. The flowRPI 1 will be manufactured in series in early 2016.
