Success of 3D NanoCompass will enable Baolab to create low cost, smart, reconfigurable Inertial Measurement Unit
Baolab Microsystems has announced that it expects to be able to modify the structures that it designed for its 3D NanoCompass to build a range of other motion sensors and, ultimately, to create low cost, smart, reconfigurable Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs). These NanoIMUs will use Baolab's patented, award winning NanoEMS technology to create nanoscale MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) within the standard metal structure of a high volume ...
KPN and MindTree Jointly Invest in a Cloud Services Aggregation Platform
MindTree and KPN have announced a partnership to jointly invest in a flexible cloud services aggregator platform for enterprise customers. The two service partners, KPN and MindTree with complementary core competencies have extended their strategic partnership that started in 2010 with the purpose of delivering best-of-breed services and solutions, state-of-the-art infrastructure and new technology solutions.
Synopsys Acquires RSoft Design Group
Synopsys, Inc. today announced it has completed the acquisition of privately held RSoft Design Group, Inc. (RSoft). The combination of Synopsys' imaging and illumination design products with RSoft's photonics design products extends Synopsys' platform to provide a more complete set of optical solutions to current customers, as well as to support new technologies, applications and markets as they emerge.
Analog Devices Extends Lead in Worldwide Data Conversion Market
Analog Devices, Inc. leads the worldwide data converter market with a 48.5 percent share, according to industry analyst firm Databeans, Inc. In a newly issued market research report entitled “2012 Analog,” Databeans confirmed that Analog Devices continues to lead the data converter market worldwide with a majority share that is larger than the combined market share of all the companies identified by the research.
Fujitsu Semiconductor Adopts Cadence Chip Planning System for MCU Chips at Its Design Centers Worldwide
Cadence Design Systems, Inc. today announced that Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited has adopted the newly updated Cadence Chip Planning System at its nine design centers spread around the globe. Fujitsu Semiconductor chose the Cadence system because of the time, accuracy and cost benefits it offers in the development of its MCU chips requiring large-scale integration (LSI).
Mouser Delivers Texas Instruments’ SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3000 FRAM Evaluation Module Kit
Mouser Electronics, Inc. today announced that it is stocking the SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3000 FRAM Evaluation Module Kit (EMK) (CC3000FRAMEMK) from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). The SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3000 FRAM EMK is a full turn-key TI Wi-Fi evaluation and demonstration tool for TI’s MSP430 FRAM microcontrollers (MCU) and SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3000 solution, which allows developers to easily add Wi-Fi to low-cost embedded products.
Mouser Stocking Latest Motor Control Solutions from Texas Instruments
Mouser Electronics, Inc. today announced immediate availability of newest DC motor control solutions from Texas Instruments. The TI DRV8843 is a dual H-bridge driver capable of driving two DC motors or one stepper motor. The output block of each driver consists of n-channel power MOSFETs configured as H-bridges that are able to supply up to 2.5A peak or 1.75A RMS output current.
UNIPOWER modules at the heart of “silent” power shelf from Communications Audit
Designers and builders of rack-based systems are not generally space constrained when it comes to specifying the power source. Not for them the constant need to consider size, weight and heat dissipation and very few need to be concerned with other factors such as the electrical “noise” generated by the power supply itself. And, if noise is an issue, most designers will select a linear power supply to do the job.
Addressing Power Challenges in High-Altitude Applications
Not every thermal challenge involves hot or wet environments, as we recently found out when GlobTek provided a power supply solution to serve an RFID application. In this case the manufacturer was concerned with high-altitude issues related to the shipping industry and airfreight. Many do not realize that the interior of an airplane, while pressurized, actually has an equivalent effective cabin altitude of around 7,000 feet (~2100 meters).
