USB interface ICs support 480Mbit/s operation
Availability of a duo of compact dual- and quad-channel hi-speed USB interface ICs with accompanying hardware from FTDI Chip has been announced by RS Components. These devices are new versions of FTDI’s FT2232H and FT4232H ICs, which are designed to provide engineers with a large range of I/O options and tackle common problems caused by limited board space.
Reduce the cost & complexity of USB-C development
Silicon Labs has introduced a comprehensive reference design that reduces the cost and complexity of developing cables and cable adapters based on the USB Type-C (USB-C) specification. The reference design features cost-effective, ultra-low-power EFM8 MCUs, USB power delivery protocol stacks certified by the USB-IF (USB Implementation Forum) and USB Billboard Device source code.
Simplify origin tracking in a complex supply chain
Designed to simplify origin tracking within a complex manufacturing supply chain, the Compliance Map Origin Determination Module has been unveiled by The Compliance Map.
Radiation influences nanosatellite software design
In his his Master's Thesis, Joonas Javanainen examined the level of preparedness the additional challenges of space impose on software design. The Aalto-1 nanosatellite uses fairly ordinary electronic components which are not specially designed to withstand radiation in space. However, the degree of reliability can be increased through good software architecture which takes into account possible failure scenarios caused by the environment.
Design platform enhanced for EM interoperability
A new and improved EM Socket II architecture within NI AWR Design Environment has been developed in order to enhance the AWR Connected for EM interoperability between third-party electromagnetic (EM) simulation tools and the company’s flagship high-frequency circuit design software, Microwave Office.
STM32F7 development boards accelerate embedded design
STMicroelectronics has released entry-level, mid-range and high-end development boards for the latest members of its STM32F7 MCU series, which are now entering volume production with up to 2MB of on-chip Flash memory and peripherals that help create rich user interfaces. Providing timely support for design starts, the development tools include a low-cost STM32 Nucleo-144 board featuring the STM32F767 variant.
ARM Cycle Models enable cache coherent interconnect IP
Arteris announces that it has used ARM Cycle Models for use in hardware and performance verification of its Ncore Cache Coherent Interconnect IP.
Accelerate automotive system software development
Synopsys has announced the addition of new models of Bosch timer and in-car communication IP for GTM, M_CAN and ERAY peripherals in its Virtualizer Development Kits (VDKs). VDKs are software development kits using a virtual prototype as the embedded target to enable software development, integration and test months before physical hardware is available.
Mentor platform chosen for analogue & RF circuit verification
Mentor Graphics has announced that Silicon Labs has selected the Analog FastSPICE (AFS) platform for circuit verification and device noise analysis of its complex pre- and post-layout analogue circuits. Silicon Labs is using AFS to analyse PLLs, data converters, wired and wireless transceivers and other specialised high performance analogue and RF circuits.
Design ecosystem simplifies wireless infrastructure
To offer its customers integrated transceiver technologies, a robust design environment, and technical expertise to rapidly move radio designs from concept to creation, Analog Devices (ADI), has unveiled its new RadioVerse technology and design ecosystem.
