Digi International introduced the Digi TransPort WR44 with Gobi, the industry’s first enterprise class cellular router with Qualcomm Gobi™ technology. Gobi technology supports either High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) or Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) networks from the same cellular radio. This means the Digi TransPort WR44 with Gobi can connect to virtually any cellular network in the world. Customers can now develop one solution for use in multiple regions to reduce cost and improve efficiency. It also minimizes risk by allowing customers to support a different standard in the future than initially selected.
“The Digi TransPort WR44 with Gobi provides anywhere global connectivity for the enterprise and greater flexibility for device deployment,” said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. “This makes it easier and more efficient for organizations to connect to their remote assets throughout the world.”

The Digi TransPort WR44 is an all-in-one enterprise class cellular router with an integrated Wi-Fi access point. The multi-function Digi TransPort WR44 provides high-speed connectivity to remote devices by combining a 3G cellular router, state-of-the-art security, advanced routing, an Ethernet switch, global positioning system (GPS), telemetry and Wi-Fi access point in one device. This unique combination of enterprise class features and flexible wireless functionality makes the router ideal for connecting remote devices in vertical applications such as transportation, remote office and retail point-of-sale.

“Qualcomm’s Gobi technology is unique in that it provides reliable, transparent 3G connectivity to both EV-DO and HSPA networks,” said Beau Beck, senior director of wireless connectivity at Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. “This allows customers to access global networks and critical information from nearly anywhere in the world.”
