Venting elements prevent the build-up of condensation

Venting elements for electrical enclosures, designed to prevent moisture from being drawn in, have been introduced by Hylec-APL. The company claims that almost every sealed enclosure on the market, especially those with a high IP rating, are susceptible to water ingress if temperatures fluctuation causes a great enough pressure differential.

However, Hylec-APL's venting elements ensure pressure equilibrium is maintained, whilst also preventing the build-up of condensation. The breathable membrane, which can be quickly installed on the wall of the enclosure, allows the internal air pressure to equalise without drawing in any moisture.

Supplied with an M12 thread fitting with a 6 or 10mm length, the elements are constructed from flameproof polyamide. The venting elements, which operate between -40 and +100°C, can be specified to protection grades IP66, IP67 and IP69K. The typical airflow rate is 90-130mnl/min/cm2 at Δp=0.01 bar.
