The on-demand shopping and lifestyle app, Urb-it, has announced its launch in London. The company claims it provides the most eco-friendly and personable shopping service across the city via the tap of an app. Urb-it continues to expand into the on-demand marketplace after significant success in neighbouring cities Stockholm and Paris.

Founded in Stockholm 2014 by Lage Jonason, Mats Forsberg and Bror Anders Månsson, Urb-it was conceptualised as a new platform for personal shopping, allowing consumers to do their shopping from anywhere and to get their purchases brought to them at a time and place of their choice. Urb-it is backed by a number of high profile private investors, including well-known investors Lage Jonason, Erik Penser and Erik Mitteregger. Additionally, Urb-it is currently planning for an Initial Public Offering, which will further strengthen finances.

Haven’t bought your Dad a gift for Father’s Day? Need that one shirt for the office party tonight but can’t get into town? Urb-it lets customers shop on their mobile through an array of boutique retailers and have their purchases brought to them by an ‘Urber’ at a time and location of their choice. With over a hundred ‘Urbers’ on-hand in London already, purchases are collected and handed over in less than an hour which means no waiting for a delivery or worrying about Click&Collect.

Neville James, Urb-it’s UK Managing Director said: “We’re very excited to launch Urb-it in London, thrilled at bringing a seamless and personal service which will change the face of shopping. We look forward to introducing the new customer-focused shopping experience to Londoners and to welcoming many more into the Urb-it community."

In the booming on-demand economy, Urb-it seeks to provide the high street and boutique retailers with an alternative sales channel by offering an alternative final green mile solution which cohesively merges into their existing infrastructure. Urb-it’s fully trained ‘Urbers’ collect and handover using only public transport and their feet, meaning there is zero environmental impact from the collection and handover process.

‘Urbers’ are hired, trained and immediately integrated into the growing global Urb-it community; many of which looking for the freedom of a fun and flexible way to earn extra income when they want. As part of Urb-it’s global community, Urbers can travel to different cities around the world and earn money on the move allowing Urbers to explore the city, meet new people and earn some extra cash at the same time.

The personalised shopping and handover service within central London costs a flat fee of £9.99; consumers can now shop using Urb-it via the app or as a checkout option on several selected websites.
