Link Microtek is now offering a range of redundant block converter systems that are designed to help prevent disruption to commercial or military satcom services by ensuring continuous operation in the event of a fault condition, with automatic switchover and no loss of signal.

Manufactured by US company MITEQ Inc., the RB-WS systems comprise a robustly constructed outdoor antenna-mount assembly, an indoor rack-mount control unit and either one or two 30m-long interface cables, depending on the configuration of the system.

The single-plate weather-resistant assembly is a fully integrated unit, incorporating switching elements, controller interface and block converters to provide redundancy in 1:1, dual 1:1 or 1:2 configurations. A wide range of upconverter and downconverter assemblies is available, covering the C, X, Ku, K and Ka satcom frequency bands. All models have an operating temperature range of -40 to +60degC.

Monitoring and control of the converters is handled by the 1U-high 19in. rack-mount control unit, which features a wide input voltage range of 90-250VAC and fully redundant, hot-swappable power supplies to maximise system availability. The unit can be used for either automatic or manual control, and both 10/100Base-T Ethernet and RS485/RS422 interfaces are provided for remote control and status monitoring.

Available options for the RB-WS system include input/output signal monitors and custom-length interface cables.
