EMI receiver extends frequency range to 44GHz

The N9048B PXE Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Receiver from Keysight Technologies has been extended from 26.5 to 44GHz enabling customers to meet current and emerging compliance testing requirements according to various standards bodies, including MIL-STD-461G and FCC Part 15.

The cellular (5G) and automotive industries need to leverage higher frequencies to deliver new applications requiring increased spectrum resources to carry large amounts of data at faster speeds.

These higher frequency applications must meet electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance testing and commercial application requirements before they can be brought to market. EMI receivers measure unwanted emissions at high frequencies generated by a device under test (DUT).

"Offering industry leading performance and EMC focused application software, Keysight's 44 GHz PXE enables certification labs to confidently handle any new product that requires compliance testing and adherence to the CISPR 16-1-1:2019 and MIL-STD-461G (2015) standards," said Joe Rickert, vice president and general manager of high frequency measurement R&D for Keysight's communications solutions group.

Supporting a frequency range of 2Hz – 44GHz, Keysight's PXE EMI Receiver delivers a sensitivity of performance that allows detection of small signals close to the noise level, common in EMC compliant radiated emissions measurements, enabling users to identify emissions caused by their device.

Time domain scan (TDS) and accelerated TDS capabilities meet dwell measurement requirements while reducing receiver scan and test time from multiple hours to seconds.

The instrument also offers full signal visibility, where the real time scan (RTS) provides gapless signal capture and analysis in up to 350MHz bandwidth and simultaneously displays the frequency domain, time domain and spectrogram, with three EMC detectors enabling customers to better understand their signals.
