Anritsu and COMPRION have established an eSIM over-the-air (OTA) test environment using Anritsu’s Signalling Tester MD8475A and COMPRION eUICC Profile Manager. The verification of the test environment was done at the Certification Center Svyaz-sertificat, one of the representative certification bodies in Russia that provides full certification services.

From January 2017, all new vehicles in the Euroasian Economic Union (EAEU) must be equipped with the ERA-GLONASS emergency calling system.

Certification for these eCall systems is based on the Russian GOST R System specifications, where GOST 33470 covers the test methods for wireless communication modules of in-vehicle emergency call devices and systems.

The newly added Chapter 9 will make SIM OTA testing mandatory from January 2019.

Anritsu and COMPRION are now able to offer a test solution for the remote provisioning and management of the Embedded UICC (eUICC) in IVS (In Vehicle System) Devices which operates in accordance with GSMA SGP.02 v.3.1 and confirmation of its compliance to the corresponding standards (GOSTs) and regulations.

eSIM allows the profile (a combination of a file structure, data and applications which allows access to a specific mobile network infrastructure) to be changed via an OTA environment.

This is particularly attractive to the automotive market as it is physically hard to change a SIM card already deployed within the IVS of a vehicle.

The tests were executed over-the-air on a laboratory test bench comprised of Anritsu’s SignallingTester MD8475A with Software SmartStudio MX847570A, controlled by COMPRION eUICC Profile Manager which simulated remote management servers of SM-SR and SM-DP (Subscription Manager Secure Routing and Subscription Manager Data Preparation).

During the tests, conducted in accordance with Chapter 9 of GOST 33470-2015, the combined solution achieved successful completion of all the test procedures defined in Clause 118 of Appendix 10 to Technical Regulation of the Customs Union (CU TR) 018/2011 and GOST 33464-2015.

The test scenarios included Profile Management operations that are set of functions related to the download of a new profile on the eUICC and its content verification.
